4 HOURS AGO • Associated Press
Rejoins Reds in relief role The Reds recalled Petty from Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact Petty will give the bullpen some length after the Reds needed to use six relievers in Tuesday's extra-innings victory over the Padres. The righty has made two starts for Cincinnati this season, yielding seven runs with a 2:3 K:BB covering 10.2 innings.
11 HOURS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Returned to minors The Reds optioned Petty to Triple-A Louisville on Sunday.
Impact Petty was up as the 27th man during Saturday's doubleheader against the Cardinals, getting charged with four runs over five frames as a spot starter in the night cap of the twin bill. He's permitted seven earned runs across 10.2 frames during his brief time with the Reds this season. Petty will now rejoin the rotation at Louisville.
MAY 25 • ROTOWIRE
Allows four runs in spot start Petty allowed four runs on six hits and one walk while striking out one over five innings in a no-decision against the Cardinals in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader.
Impact Making a spot start, Petty allowed a run in the second inning before surrendering a three-run homer to Jordan Walker in the sixth. He threw 40 of 62 pitches for strikes but induced only three whiffs while yielding 10 hard-hit balls. The 23-year-old has now allowed seven earned runs across 10.2 frames with the Cardinals while recording just two strikeouts. He'll likely return to Triple-A Louisville following Saturday's contest.
MAY 24 • ROTOWIRE
Added for spot start The Reds added Petty to the active roster as the 27th man for Saturday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.
Impact Petty will make his second big-league start of the season in the second game of Saturday's twin bill. He gave up three earned runs over 5.2 innings during his season debut against the Cubs on May 4 but owns a 6.32 ERA and 1.64 WHIP through 31.1 frames in Triple-A. He'll likely be sent back to Louisville following his appearance Saturday.
MAY 23 • ROTOWIRE
Drawing start during doubleheader Petty will start the second game of Saturday's doubleheader versus the Cardinals, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
Impact The Reds and Cardinals have a twin bill Saturday after Friday's game was rained out, and Petty will be up to serve as the 27th man on the roster. Petty made one spot start earlier this season for Cincinnati, allowing three runs with a 1:2 K:BB over 5.2 innings. The righty holds a 6.32 ERA and 31:15 K:BB across 31.1 frames covering eight starts with Triple-A Louisville this season.
MAY 22 • ROTOWIRE
Tough showing at Triple-A Petty (blister) took the loss after allowing seven runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out one over three innings against Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday.
Impact Petty battled a blister on his pitching hand in his previous start, but he was cleared to toe the rubber Sunday. He turned in one of his worst outings of the 2026 season, tying a season high in hits allowed and runs allowed. Unless the team states otherwise, Petty appears to have put the blister behind him.
MAY 19 • ROTOWIRE
Dealing with blister at Triple-A Reds manager Terry Francona said Tuesday that Petty was dealing with a blister during his start for Triple-A Louisville on Sunday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati report...
Impact Petty bit the blister off his finger and continued pitching, but he allowed three runs on six hits with a 1:3 K:BB over 3.2 innings. It's unclear when Petty will make his next start, but the blister issue takes him out of consideration for a start with the Reds later this week.

Michael Conforto comes through in a pinch as streaking Cubs rally in 9th for 5-4 win over Reds

Pinch-hitter Michael Conforto capped a two-run ninth inning with a solo homer and the Chicago Cubs rallied to beat the Cincinnati Reds 5-4 for their sixth straight win
MAY 5 • Associated Press
Serviceable in spot start Petty didn't factor into the decision Monday against the Cubs, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks in 5.2 innings. He struck out one.
Impact Facing a formidable Cubs lineup, Petty held his own in a spot start during his season debut Monday. The 23-year-old right-hander fired 51 of his 75 pitches for strikes, but Seiya Suzuki did take him deep for a three-run home run in the fourth inning. The Reds are planning to get Nick Lodolo (finger) back from the injured list this weekend, therefore Petty's next start figures to come back with Triple-A Louisville.

Petty has collected a 4.38 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 29:11 K:BB over 24.2 innings with Louisville this season.

On track to start Monday The Reds plan to call up Petty from Triple-A Louisville to start Monday's game against the Cubs in Chicago, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact Petty will be moving into the rotation spot vacated by lefty Brandon Williamson (shoulder), who was placed on the injured list Thursday. The right-hander could be in line for a short-term appointment to the big-league rotation, however, as southpaw Nick Lodolo (finger) is on track to be activated from the IL next weekend. Over six starts with Louisville this season, Petty has submitted a 4.38 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 29:11 K:BB over 24.2 innings.

Leaves start early Petty was pulled from Wednesday's start for Triple-A Louisville but not due to injury, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
Impact Petty appears to have been removed early after Cincinnati starter Brandon Williamson was pulled from his start Wednesday with left shoulder fatigue. Petty, who threw 62 pitches over 2.1 scoreless innings, is one of two available starters currently on the 40-man roster. The other is Jose Franco, who is currently up with the Reds and pitched three relief innings following Williamson's removal. Nick Lodolo (finger) is on the verge of returning from a rehab assignment and is expected to pitch for High-A Dayton on Saturday. Either Petty or Franco could replace Williamson, whose next turn in the rotation comes Monday. More should be learned after Williamson undergoes an MRI on Thursday.
APRIL 30 • ROTOWIRE
Back from injury Thursday Petty (undisclosed) will start for Triple-A Louisville on Thursday.
Impact Petty failed to make the Reds' roster out of spring training and spent some time on the injured list with an undisclosed issue. He's made four starts for Louisville, posting a 6.61 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 22:5 K:BB across 16.1 innings. The 23-year-old made his MLB debut last season, pitching in three games with Cincinnati, and allowed 14 runs (13 earned) on 14 hits and eight walks with seven strikeouts across six innings.
APRIL 23 • ROTOWIRE
Cut from major-league camp The Reds optioned Petty to minor-league camp Monday.
Impact Petty was unscored upon in two Cactus League outings, collecting a 2:2 K:BB over four innings. There's no room in the Reds' rotation for the young right-hander, but Petty should play a role with the big club at some point this summer.
MARCH 9 • ROTOWIRE
Sent back to Triple-A The Reds optioned Petty to Triple-A Louisville on Sunday.
Impact After he was recalled from Triple-A on Saturday, Petty had initially been expected to get a start. Instead Brent Suter opened the game, and Petty didn't get called upon until the bottom of the 11th after seven other pitchers had been used. He ended up taking his third loss of the season, recording two outs before surrendering a game-winning hit to Yohel Pozo. The Reds sent Petty back to the minors to remain stretched out as a starter and recalled Yosver Zulueta to replace him in the bullpen.

Sent back to Triple-A The Reds optioned Petty to Triple-A Louisville on Sunday.
Impact After he was recalled from Triple-A on Saturday, Petty had initially been expected to start the second game of the Reds' series with the Cardinals, but Cincinnati instead elected to have lefty Brent Suter open the game. The Reds didn't end up using Petty as a bulk reliever, with the right-hander not entering the game until the bottom of the 11th after seven other pitchers had been used. Petty ended up taking his third loss of the season in the Cardinals' 6-5 victory, as he recorded two outs before surrendering a Yohel Pozo base hit that allowed the game-winning run to score from second base. The Reds sent Petty back to the minors to get stretched back out as a starter and recalled right-hander Yosver Zulueta from Louisville to replace him in the bullpen.
