Roster bid falls short
The Astros reassigned Biggio to minor-league camp Sunday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Biggio missed a good chunk of camp while recovering from a right elbow scope and was unable to capitalize on his limited Cactus League opportunities, going just 2-for-14 with a 2:6 BB:K over six games. He'll open the season at Triple-A Sugar Land and will look to perform well enough to garner consideration for a call-up to the big club.

Back in action Saturday
Biggio (elbow) will serve as the Astros' designated hitter and bat fifth in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Mets.
Impact
Biggio underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow during the offseason. He has progressed enough in his recovery to make his first Grapefruit League appearance Saturday, and he'll be brought into the fold slowly by serving as the Astros' DH. Biggio, who is out of minor-league options, inked a minor-league deal with Houston in mid-February.

Nearing game action
Biggio (elbow) could make his Grapefruit League debut next week, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Biggio has been slow-played this spring as he works his way back from offseason arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow. The utility player is in camp as a non-roster invitee and his delayed start this spring surely eliminates any chance he had to make the Opening Day roster.

Impact
Biggio will be attending big-league camp after signing a minor-league deal with the Astros on Sunday, but he'll be behind Houston's other position players early in spring training while he completes his post-surgery ramp-up program. Assuming he's able to play in games by early March, Biggio should keep himself in the mix for a utility spot on the Astros' Opening Day roster.

Lands MiLB deal with Houston
Biggio signed Sunday with the Astros on a minor-league contract that includes an invitation to big-league spring training, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Impact
The Astros are the seventh different organization that Biggio has joined since entering the professional ranks in 2016, but the 30-year-old already has plenty of familiarity with Houston, where his Hall of Fame father, Craig, played all 20 of his big-league seasons. Biggio will be given the chance to compete for a utility role on the Astros' Opening Day squad, but since he's not currently on the 40-man roster, he may need a strong showing in the Cactus League plus some injuries to other players to secure a spot. With a 100 wRC+ over parts of seven seasons, Biggio has been a league-average hitter in the big leagues for his career, but he mustered a lowly .174/.296/.246 across 83 plate appearances in the majors with Kansas City in 2025.

Lands with Angels
Biggio signed a minor-league contract with the Angels on Wednesday, Jack Janes of TheSportingTribune.com reports.
Impact
The Royals cut Biggio loose last week after he turned in a .174/.296/.246 slash line across 37 games with the big club. He owns an .839 OPS in Triple-A, however, which will buy him a new opportunity in the Angels' farm system. If the 30-year-old utility man continues to hit well upon reporting to Triple-A Salt Lake, he may be granted a few at-bats with the Halos down the stretch.

Released by Kansas City
The Royals released Biggio on Friday.
Impact
Biggio was DFA'd by Kansas City last week after he slashed .174/.296/.246 with one home run, four RBI, nine runs scored, one stolen base and an 11:21 BB:K across 83 plate appearances at the major-league level this season. The 30-year-old will look for a new opportunity elsewhere.

Designated for assignment
The Royals designated Biggio for assignment Friday.
Impact
Kansas City needed to open a 40-man roster spot for the return of Hunter Harvey (shoulder) from the 60-day IL. Biggio hasn't been in the majors since he was sent to Triple-A on May 25 after slashing .174/.296/.246 with one home run, four RBI, nine runs scored, one stolen base and an 11:21 BB:K across 83 trips to the dish. He's been swinging the bat better at Triple-A Omaha, slashing .285/.375/.464 with four home runs, 23 RBI, 26 runs scored, one steal and a 20:37 BB:K over 176 plate appearances.

Optioned to Triple-A
Biggio was optioned to Triple-A Omaha following Sunday's 2-1 win over the Twins, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Biggio appeared as a pinch-hitter in the contest, striking out in place of Mark Canha in the top of the ninth inning. The 30-year-old has struggled to a .174 average with one home run, four RBI, nine runs scored and a stolen base over 69 at-bats in 37 games with Kansas City this season. Biggio will now have the chance to either accept his option to Triple-A or elect free agency in the coming days.

Absent from lineup
Biggio is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game in San Francisco.
Impact

Vinnie Pasquantino is at DH and Mark Canha is in left field for Wednesday's matinee.

Launches first homer
Biggio went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in a 4-0 win against Baltimore on Saturday.
Impact
Offense was at a premium in the rain-delayed contest, and Biggio provided a key run with his 389-foot solo shot in the fifth inning. It was the first long ball of the season for the veteran infielder, who has struggled to a .191/.321/.255 slash line through 57 plate appearances this season. The poor numbers have impacted Biggio's playing time and have made him a non-factor in almost all fantasy formats.

Heading to bench Sunday
Biggio is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.
Impact
Biggio will head to the bench after he started at first base in the Royals' first two games while going 1-for-5 with a walk. Vinnie Pasquantino has been limited to designated-hitter duties thus far while he works his way back from a minor hamstring strain, and once he's cleared to return to his usual post at first base, Biggio could see his opportunities dry up.
