Locks down save Estevez allowed one hit and struck out one batter in a scoreless inning while earning a save against the Twins on Sunday.
Impact Estevez worked around a one-out single to finish off the 4-2 victory. He lowered his ERA to 1.23 and has now converted all 12 of his save chances this season. The 30-year-old righty has yielded just one run in his last 15 innings.

Registers 11th save Estevez picked up the save in Friday's 5-4 victory over the Twins. He struck out two over a perfect inning.
Impact Estevez is now tied for second in the big leagues in saves. The right-hander is having a banner year, as he's already tied his career-high mark in saves. The former Rockie also sports a 1.29 ERA, which would be his personal-best by far if he were to stay around that level throughout the entire campaign. The 30-year-old's lowest ERA over a full season is 3.47, which he registered last year.
MAY 20, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Notches 10th save Estevez earned a save against the Orioles on Thursday, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out two batters over one inning.
Impact Estevez didn't have his breeziest outing Thursday, but he benefitted from Adam Frazier getting thrown out trying to stretch a single into a double and fanned Ryan Mountcastle for the final out with a pair of Orioles on base. With that, Estevez remained perfect with a 10-for-10 mark on save opportunities this season, and he has given up a run in only three of 20 outings on the campaign. The right-hander is one of only two pitchers (along with Alexis Diaz) to have racked up double-digit saves without blowing any chances so far this season.
MAY 19, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Escapes with save Estevez struck out one batter in a scoreless inning to earn a save over Cleveland on Friday. He allowed two hits and a walk.
Impact Estevez was cruising through one of his usual easy innings before putting three straight Guardians on base with two outs. He extinguished the fire by punching out Will Brennan and finishing the 5-4 win. Estevez lowered his ERA to 0.96 with a 24:7 K:BB and nine saves.
MAY 13, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Tallies eighth save Estevez earned a save over the Astros on Monday with a perfect inning that included one strikeout.
Impact Estevez inherited a two-run lead when he took the mound in the ninth, and he retired the side in order on 14 pitches. The right-hander extended his stretch of outings without allowing a run to 10, and he's earned six saves while posting a 14:2 K:BB and yielding just two hits over 10.2 frames over that span. Estevez had a rough spring training and was sharing save opportunities with Jose Quijada (elbow) early in the campaign, but he's firmly cemented his hold on the closer role with the dominant stretch.
MAY 9, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Nabs win Friday Estevez (1-1) earned the extra-inning win Friday, allowing one walk and striking out two over one inning versus the Rangers.
Impact Estevez did his job in the top of the 10th inning, and the Angels' offense rewarded him with a walkoff win. This was his ninth consecutive scoreless appearance, a span in which he has a 13:2 K:BB with only two hits allowed in 9.2 innings. He's at a 1.08 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, 22:7 K:BB, seven saves and two holds through 16.2 innings. Those strong numbers have helped the right-hander earn at least a primary share of save chances, and he should have a little more stability in the role with Jose Quijada (elbow) set for Tommy John surgery.
MAY 6, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Picks up seventh save of season Estevez picked up the save Wednesday against the Cardinals. He struck out two over a perfect inning.
Impact Estevez is now tied for fourth in MLB in saves. The right-hander also hasn't allowed a run over his last eight outings, and sports a 0.96 WHIP. The former Rockie is easily one of the better closers in the league at this point.
MAY 4, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Two strikeouts in sixth save Estevez picked up the save during Sunday's 3-0 win over the Brewers, tossing a perfect ninth inning while striking out two.
Impact Estevez entered with a a three-run lead and retired Williams Contreras, Brian Anderson and Rowdy Tellez in order, including back-to-back strikeouts to start the frame. The right-hander is a perfect 6-for-6 in save opportunities and is currently the Angels' top closer with Jose Quijada (elbow) and Ryan Tepera (shoulder) on the injured list.
MAY 1, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Nabs another save Estevez earned a save over the Athletics on Thursday, allowing one hit and striking out two batters over a scoreless inning.
Impact Estevez gave up a two-out single but managed to preserve Los Angeles' one-run, ninth-inning lead to notch his fifth save of the campaign. Three of those have come in the past five days as the right-hander appears to have taken control of the closer role for the Angels. Jose Quijada appeared to have at least an even split of those duties by racking up four saves and a 0.00 ERA through April 21, but he's fallen off in his past two appearances, allowing seven runs (six earned) across one inning.
APRIL 28, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Records five out save Estevez picked up his fourth save of the season Tuesday against the Athletics. He struck out a batter and did not give up a hit over 1.2 innings of work.
Impact Tuesday was Estevez's first outing of more than an inning. He needed just 17 pitches to navigate through five batters and secure the save. The 30-year-old has bounced back thus far after a rough showing during spring training and has a 1.54 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and a 12:6 K:BB over 11.2 innings. He appears to be atop the pecking order for saves in front of Jose Quijada, who recently just was lit up against the Royals on Saturday.
APRIL 26, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Makes quick work of Royals Estevez picked up the save in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Royals. He didn't allow any hits, runs or walks over one inning.
Impact Estevez picked up his third save of the season Sunday, retiring all three of the batters he faced in just six total pitches. He has allowed just one hit and no runs in his last three appearances combined.
APRIL 24, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Earns second save Estevez earned the save Monday against the Red Sox, allowing one run on two hits while recording two strikeouts.
Impact Estevez entered in the ninth inning and shut the door in a nail-biting finale to the series. The 30-year-old struck out Jarren Duran before giving up a run on a Rafael Devers RBI single; however, Estevez remained resilient and proceeded to strike out Rob Refsnyder before getting Masataka Yoshida to pop out to end the game. Estevez secured his second save of the season and owns a 2.57 ERA with nine strikeouts through seven innings this season.

Notches first save Estevez earned the save Tuesday against the Nationals after he fired a scoreless ninth inning, allowing no hits and one walk with no strikeouts.
Impact The right-hander issued a one-out walk but was otherwise able to close out the save with minimal fanfare. Estevez and Jose Quijada now each have one save apiece for the Angels, with Jimmy Herget also in the mix for the closer role. Tucker Davidson also has a save this season, but he pitched four frames in that outing and should continue to serve as a long reliever.

Didn't close due to recent workload Estevez wasn't used to close out the Angels' 4-3 win over the Mariners on Wednesday because manager Phil Nevin wanted to give him another day of rest after the reliever pitched Sun...
Impact Nevin instead opted for Jose Quijada, who pitched around a single to record the team's first save of the season. Even though he wasn't the one to get the save, this news should be heartening for those rostering Estevez, as it would appear he could be at the top of the Angels' bullpen pecking order. It remains a messy situation, but fantasy managers with Estevez should be hanging on to him.
APRIL 5, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Fans side in first 2023 outing Estevez tossed a scoreless inning against Oakland on Sunday, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out three batters.
Impact Estevez opened spring training as the possible favorite for closing opportunities this season, but he struggled mightily in Cactus League play to throw that scenario into question. The right-hander made his regular-season Angels debut Sunday, taking over in the ninth inning with Los Angeles staked to a 6-0 lead. There was both good and bad in Estevez's appearance -- he allowed back-to-back two-out baserunners but kept Oakland off the scoreboard and recorded all three outs via strikeout. It remains to be seen how manager Phil Nevin will eventually manage save situations, but Estevez should at least be among the top options to close when opportunities arise.
APRIL 3, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Closer role not guaranteed Angels manager Phil Nevin said Saturday that the first opportunity to close a game this season will depend on "what the game dictates," Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register...
Impact Estevez appeared to be the frontrunner for closing duties early in camp, but Nevin has yet to commit to any reliever for that role. Estevez has struggled statistically this spring, though he struck out the side in a scoreless inning during his last appearance and has attributed his troubles in Cactus League play to experimenting with pitch usage. Nevin did say that Estevez "is definitely going to get some big outs late in the game most of the year," so the veteran reliever's poor numbers this spring don't seem to have shaken his manager's confidence. However, Nevin elected for a closer committee after the Angels traded Raisel Iglesias last season, thus it's not certain that he'll name a full-time closer at any point in 2023.
MARCH 25, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Not concerned over rough spring Estevez and the Angels aren't concerned over his poor numbers this spring, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.
Impact He has walked 10 batters in 3.2 innings and has a 19.64 ERA, but the veteran righty has been experimenting with new pitches and strategies at the expense of clean innings in exhibition play. Estevez has been working more up in the zone, because the numbers say he is harder to hit up there and he's been working on a new changeup grip while attempting to throw a harder slider. Pitching coach Matt Wise said Estevez is trending in the right direction and manager Phil Nevin said he expects Estevez to get more consistent as the start of the season nears.
MARCH 18, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Struggling this spring Estevez has pitched 1.2 innings over three appearances in Cactus League play thus far, allowing five runs on one hit and seven walks while striking out one batter.
Impact Estevez has never been a pitcher with pinpoint control, but his wildness has been particularly off-putting this spring given general manager Perry Minasian's optimism early in camp that the right-hander could win the Angels' closer job. That scenario certainly isn't off the table, but Estevez may need to put his early struggles behind him in order to earn the team's confidence. One reason for his poor numbers thus far may be a conscious attempt, at the direction of the organization, to pitch more at the top of the zone, per Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register. Estevez has at least expressed confidence in adjusting to the changes, saying Sunday, "I think I'm going to get it. I just need to face more hitters and once I'm comfortable with it, I think I'm going to be fine." Los Angeles has other options, including Jimmy Herget and Ryan Tepera, to deploy in the ninth inning of meaningful games, so Estevez is among the shakiest options for fantasy managers to target when chasing saves in their drafts.
MARCH 7, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Tabbed as favorite to close by GM Angels general manager Perry Minasian recently expressed optimism that Estevez will earn the team's closer role this season, though he made it clear that the decision will be made...
Impact Estevez signed a two-year contract with the Angels in December after spending the first six seasons of his career with Colorado. The right-hander has racked up 25 saves in his career, with 11 coming in his rookie campaign and another 11 in 2021. Estevez doesn't have huge strikeout numbers -- he fanned less than a batter per inning in each of his past two seasons -- but he posted career-best marks with a 3.47 ERA and 1.18 WHIP over 57 frames in 2022. Jimmy Herget was impressive as part of a closer committee for Los Angeles last season after Raisel Iglesias was traded in early August, and Ryan Tepera should also be in the mix for save chances. Given Minasian's comments, Estevez may have a leg up in the closer competition, but he's far from guaranteed to be handed that role and should be among the final closers to be selected in fantasy drafts.
FEBRUARY 23, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Signs with Angels Estevez agreed to a free-agent deal with the Angels on Monday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Impact Estevez will receive $13.5 million across the next two seasons, per Jon Heyman of the New York Post. The hard-throwing righty logged a 3.47 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in 57 innings for the Rockies in 2022. Estevez struck out less than a batter an inning and isn't a master of control, as he walked 23. Despite tallying just 13 saves between the last two seasons, he could be a top candidate to close games for Los Angeles.
