Signs one-year deal Smith agreed to a one-year, $2 million contract with the Diamondbacks on Tuesday to avoid arbitration, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Impact Smith moved between the rotation and bullpen for Arizona in 2021 and finished with a 4.83 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 124:63 K:BB in 113.2 innings. The left-hander fared much better as a reliever with a 2.70 ERA, so it seems likely the Diamondbacks will keep him in that role to begin 2022.
