INJURIES

Sitting Tuesday Raleigh is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rays.
Impact Raleigh and Tom Murphy will continue their pattern of alternating turns behind the plate, as both backstops have now drawn three starts at catcher apiece over the Mariners' last six games. The recent return of Luis Torrens from the COVID-19 injured list gives Seattle yet another option at catcher, so Raleigh could be more likely to see his playing time decrease than grow moving forward.

Not in Thursday's lineup Raleigh isn't starting Thursday's game against the Rangers.
Impact The Mariners haven't utilized a primary catcher early in the year, and Raleigh will retreat to the bench for the third time in the last four games. Tom Murphy will take over behind the plate and bat sixth.

Sitting Tuesday Raleigh is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against Texas.
Impact Raleigh started behind the plate on Opening Day, but it doesn't appear as though the Mariners have a true starting catcher this season. Through 11 games, he's started four times, while Tuesday's starter Tom Murphy has also started four games. Luis Torrens has picked up the remaining three starts and has an additional start as a designated hitter.
APRIL 19, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Not in Sunday's lineup Raleigh is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.
Impact Seattle will continue to utilize a three-man rotation behind the plate, with Luis Torrens receiving the starting nod Sunday. However, Raleigh leads the team with four starts and has an .812 OPS early in the campaign.
APRIL 17, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Not starting Friday Raleigh isn't starting Friday's game against the Astros.
Impact The Mariners have had a timeshare behind the dish early in the season, and Raleigh will be on the bench for the third time in the last four games. Tom Murphy will start at catcher and bat ninth.
APRIL 15, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Hits first homer of season Raleigh went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk during Thursday's 5-1 win over the White Sox.
Impact Raleigh extended Seattle's lead to 3-1 with a solo blast in the top of the seventh inning off White Sox reliever Bennett Sousa. Raleigh appears to be a timeshare with Luis Torrens and Tom Murphy, but Raleigh in the first catcher of the group to reach three starts. Through the first week of the season, Raleigh is 2-for-10 with three walks and three strikeouts.

Sitting again Raleigh is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.
Impact All of Raleigh, Luis Torrens and Tom Murphy have now picked up two starts apiece at catcher this season, making it difficult to discern which of the three is atop the depth chart. Raleigh is sitting for the second straight day Wednesday while Murphy picks up a turn at catcher.

Sitting Tuesday Raleigh is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the White Sox, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.
Impact The Mariners have rolled out a three-man rotation at catcher to begin the season, with Raleigh and Luis Torrens both picking up two turns behind the plate while Tom Murphy has started once. Raleigh's superior defense might be enough to give him the edge over Torrens as the nominal No. 1 option, but the 25-year-old backstop may need to show some improvement at the plate to maintain his spot atop the depth chart. Through his first 154 plate appearances in the big leagues, Raleigh is slashing .182/.234/.308 with a 35.1 percent strikeout rate.

Not in Sunday's lineup Raleigh is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Minnesota.
Impact Raleigh finds himself on the bench for the second straight contest after going 1-for-2 with two walks Opening Day. Luis Torrens will catch Sunday, as the Mariners have given all three of their catchers a start through the first three games of the year.

Riding pine Saturday Raleigh isn't starting Saturday's game against the Twins.
Impact Raleigh drew the start in Friday's Opening Day win and went 1-for-2 with two walks and a strikeout. Tom Murphy will start behind the plate and bat ninth Saturday.
APRIL 9, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Gets start in opener Raleigh will catch and bat ninth in Friday's game against the Twins.
Impact The Mariners will carry three catchers to start the year, but it's Raleigh who will get the nod in Seattle's first game over Tom Murphy and Luis Torrens. Raleigh is a fairly interesting prospect but struggled to a .180/.223/.309 line in his 47-game MLB debut last year after posting a far superior .324/.377/.608 line in 44 games for Triple-A Tacoma. His underlying numbers in the majors suggest he deserved that poor performance, as he combined a 35.1 percent strikeout rate with a 4.7 percent walk rate, but the Mariners clearly believe he'll do better going forward.
APRIL 8, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
After a rough debut, is Cal Raleigh still the Mariners' catcher of the future? Raleigh's 47-game stint with the Mariners after coming up from Triple-A Tacoma can best be described as humbling.

Could snag roster spot Raleigh, who's hitting .278 with a home run and three RBI in nine Cactus League games, could be one of three catchers to make the Opening Day roster, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com repor...
Impact The 25-year-old backstop has shown some solid improvement at the plate this spring after producing a .180/.223/.309 slash line across his first 148 big-league plate appearances in 2021. Raleigh does have solid pedigree as an offensive player, highlighted by a stellar season at Triple-A Tacoma a year ago that saw him produce a .324 average and .985 OPS in 199 plate appearances. Kramer also notes Raleigh has worked well with the entire pitching staff this spring and already produced above-average defensive metrics during his first majors stint.

Smacks second home run Raleigh went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run Thursday against the Athletics.

He drew a start for the first time in three games, with Tom Murphy remaining the team's primary catcher. Across the first 138 plate appearances of his career in the majors, Raleigh is hitting .177.217/.308 while striking out at a 36.2 percent clip.

Second straight two-hit start Raleigh went 2-for-4 with a double in a loss to the Red Sox on Tuesday.
Impact The reserve backstop has a miserable .178/.222/.288 slash line for the season, but he's at least had a reason to smile over his last two starts. Raleigh is 4-for-8 in that pair of opportunities with the starting nine, which have come within a four-day period. Raleigh has encouragingly gotten good wood on the ball in that brief sample as well, as three of his four hits have been two-baggers.
SEPTEMBER 15, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Loses hold of No. 1 job Raleigh is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.
Impact After sitting against Houston right-hander Jake Odorizzi on Tuesday, the lefty-hitting Raleigh will remain on the bench versus a righty (Jose Urquidy) for the second day in a row. At this point, Tom Murphy -- who will catch Wednesday's game -- appears to have usurped Raleigh on the depth chart. After going 0-for-17 over his last six games, Raleigh's batting average now sits at .157 since he was called up from Triple-A Tacoma on July 11.
SEPTEMBER 8, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Not starting Tuesday Raleigh isn't starting Tuesday's game against the Astros.
Impact Raleigh went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Monday's loss and will head to the bench for the second time in the last three games. Tom Murphy will start at catcher and bat eighth.
