Impact Miami had just optioned Gibson to Triple-A on Wednesday, but he'll be able to rejoin the big club less than a week later after infielder Xavier Edwards (thumb) was placed on the injured list in a corresponding move. The 28-year-old southpaw owns a 5.87 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 32:19 K:BB over 38.1 innings for the Marlins this season.

Escapes with fourth hold Monday Gibson recorded his fourth hold of the season in Monday's win over the Phillies, coughing up three runs on two hits and a walk in one-third of an inning.

Impact The southpaw entered the game in the top of the sixth inning with the Marlins holding a 5-2 lead, and while Gibson immediately made a mess that the rest of the bullpen needed to clean up, he technically exited the game with his team still ahead -- Tyler Zuber allowed two of Gibson's inherited runners to score after taking over. Over 10 appearances in July, Gibson has stumbled to a 5.40 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 8:6 K:BB through 11.2 innings, but he's collected all four of his holds along with one win.

Impact The Marlins went with a true bullpen day Friday, as none of their eight pitchers recorded more than five outs, and Gibson was not only the most effective of them, he was still the pitcher of record when his team took the lead for good in the bottom of the seventh inning. The 28-year-old southpaw held a brutal 14.73 ERA after his second big-league appearance of the season May 21, but since then he's delivered a 2.70 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 8:4 K:BB over 10 innings while mainly working in lower-leverage spots.
