Collects first win of season Gibson (1-2) picked up the win Friday, striking out one in 1.2 perfect innings of relief in a 4-3 victory over the Giants.
Impact The Marlins went with a true bullpen day Friday, as none of their eight pitchers recorded more than five outs, and Gibson was not only the most effective of them, he was still the pitcher of record when his team took the lead for good in the bottom of the seventh inning. The 28-year-old southpaw held a brutal 14.73 ERA after his second big-league appearance of the season May 21, but since then he's delivered a 2.70 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 8:4 K:BB over 10 innings while mainly working in lower-leverage spots.

Heading back to Triple-A The Marlins optioned Gibson to Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday.
Impact The move corresponds with the Marlins selecting Josh Ekness's contract from Jacksonville. Gibson was recalled by the Marlins on Tuesday but was roughed up in his lone outing with the big club Friday against the Phillies, when he allowed four runs on five hits (including a home run) and one walk while striking out one batter across 1.2 innings. Gibson will head back to Triple-A, where he sports a respectable 2.63 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 15:4 K:BB across 13.2 innings.

Joining big club The Marlins recalled Gibson from Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday.
Impact Gibson has spent the entire season with Jacksonville, where he owns a 2.63 ERA and 0.76 WHIP through 13.2 innings. He'll be summoned to the majors to make up for the loss of Pete Fairbanks (hand), who landed on the injured list in a corresponding move. Gibson put up a 2.63 ERA over 54.2 innings in the big leagues last season but is likely to be used primarily in middle relief while with Miami.

Nabs fourth hold Gibson struck out one in 1.1 perfect innings Tuesday to record his fourth hold of the season in a win over the Padres.
Impact The Marlins' bullpen has had few set roles this season as manager Clayton McCullough swaps players in and out of high-leverage duty, but Gibson seems to have worked himself into a consistent spot in the late-inning mix as the team's top left-handed reliever. All four of his holds have come in his last 10 appearances, a stretch in which Gibson has posted a 3.60 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 10:3 K:BB over 10 innings.
