Relegated to Triple-A
The Diamondbacks optioned Jarvis to Triple-A Reno on Saturday.
Impact
Jarvis was lit up for three runs in just two-thirds of an inning Friday against the Cubs, elevating his ERA to 7.36 across 7.1 frames. He'll look to right the ship at Reno, and his past success in the majors suggests that he should be able to return to Arizona relatively quickly.

Awarded bullpen spot
Jarvis will be on the Diamondbacks' Opening Day roster, Jack Sommers of SI.com reports.
Impact
Jarvis' 5.12 FIP in 2024 indicates that his performance didn't quite live up to his 3.19 ERA. But after finishing the Cactus League schedule with two earned runs allowed and 13 strikeouts through 9.1 innings, Jarvis did a great job proving he still belongs in Arizona's bullpen. He'll presumably take on a middle-relief role to begin 2025.

Cleared for spring debut
Jarvis (elbow) is expected to make his Cactus League debut in Wednesday's game against the Brewers, Alex D'Agostino of SI.com reports.
Impact
Jarvis didn't make any appearances after July 30 of last season while recovering from an elbow sprain, but the 27-year-old righty doesn't seem to be too far behind the Diamondbacks' other relievers in spring training. He'll be competing for a multi-inning role out of the bullpen during camp after he turned in a 3.19 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 38:33 K:BB across 59.1 frames before spending the final two months of the 2024 campaign on the shelf.

Activated from 60-day IL
The Diamondbacks activated Jarvis (elbow) off the 60-day injured list in November.
Impact
Jarvis sustained an elbow sprain in August that ended his 2024 season. He'll join the mix of pitchers looking to land a spot in the bullpen as a multi-inning reliever.

Shifted to 60-day injured list
The Diamondbacks transferred Jarvis (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.
Impact
The move frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for the return of Eduardo Rodriguez. Jarvis landed on the IL last with a right elbow sprain, and while it's not clear whether he will need surgery, the move to the 60-day IL effectively ends his season.

Out with elbow sprain
The Diamondbacks placed Jarvis on the 15-day injured list Friday due to a sprained right elbow.
Impact
It's unclear when exactly the right-hander sustained the injury, but he last pitched Tuesday against the Nationals and allowed two hits with two strikeouts over a scoreless frame. Jarvis will be eligible to be reinstated in mid-August, but it's possible he faces a longer absence.

Picks up first win
Jarvis (1-2) picked up the win over the Dodgers on Wednesday, pitching 2.1 scoreless innings in relief while allowing one hit and two walks. He struck out one.
Impact
Jarvis relieved Cristian Mena to open the bottom of the fourth and managed to hold the Dodgers' lineup scoreless over the next 2.1 innings despite allowing a baserunner in each frame. Arizona would go on to add four runs over that stretch, helping the right-hander earn his first win of the campaign. Though Jarvis allowed two runs in his previous relief appearance on June 27 against the Twins, he's actually held opposing teams scoreless in four of his last five outings.

Takes loss in extras
Jarvis (0-2) was the losing pitcher in Saturday's 5-4 extra-innings loss to Baltimore. He allowed one run on one hit and two walks while striking out one over one-plus innings.
Impact
Arizona manager Torey Lovullo turned to Jarvis, the team's long arm out of the bullpen, to navigate extra frames. The lefty managed to extricate himself from a bases loaded jam in the 10th inning thanks to double-play groundout but couldn't escape the 11th. Jordan Westburg reached down for the first pitch -- a slider at the bottom of the zone -- and got the end of the bat on the ball which landed just inside the right field line, plating the automatic runner for the Orioles' walk-off win. It was the fifth time in the last six games that Jarvis has allowed runs (8.59 ERA).

Loses postseason roster spot
Jarvis isn't on the Diamondbacks' NLDS roster, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Impact
Although Jarvis put up a 3.04 ERA and 0.97 WHIP in 23.2 innings in the majors this season, the Diamondbacks didn't use him out of the bullpen during their series against the Brewers. He'll now be cast off the roster ahead of their Divisional Series matchup against the Dodgers in favor of Kyle Nelson.

Fans three in short appearance
Jarvis allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits over 2.2 innings in Sunday's loss to the Astros. He struck out three and did not factor in the decision.
Impact
Jarvis entered the game in the first inning after Kyle Nelson got off to a rocky start as the opener. Since the start of September, Jarvis allowed three earned runs over 11.2 frames. He registered a solid 3.04 in 23.2 MLB innings this season, mostly as a bullpen arm. The right-handed rookie could compete for a rotation spot with Arizona in 2024.

ROTOWIRE
Slated to open Thursday's game
Jarvis is listed as the Diamondbacks' starting pitcher in Thursday's game against the White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field, Jesse Friedman of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Impact
Jarvis made 16 starts at Triple-A Reno this season, but each of his first nine big-league appearances with Arizona have come out of the bullpen. Though he'll draw his first MLB start Thursday, Jarvis hasn't covered more than 3.2 innings in any of his appearances with Arizona or Reno since the beginning of August, so he may not be asked to work especially deep into the contest. Even against a White Sox squad that ranks last in the majors with a 68 wRC+ in September, Jarvis doesn't make for an inspiring streaming option.

Finishes off Cubs
Jarvis struck out one over two scoreless innings in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Cubs.
Impact
Jarvis was the last of four Arizona relievers in support of starter Ryne Nelson, who was yanked after 3.1 innings (75 pitches, 40 strikes). The bullpen combined for 6.2 shutout innings, as the Diamondbacks swept the Cubs and leapfrogged them in the wild card race. Jarvis, who was called up Sunday, can provide length should the club need a starter over the final 11 games.

Back in big leagues
Jarvis was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Sunday, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
Impact
Jarvis has a 2.81 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 7:8 K:BB across 16 innings this season, so it's not a major surprise he'll receive another look in the big-league bullpen. Scott McGough (shoulder) was placed on the injured list in a corresponding move.

Optioned to Triple-A
Arizona optioned Jarvis to Triple-A Reno on Thursday.
Impact
Jarvis threw 28 pitches over two scoreless innings of relief in Wednesday's series finale against the Rockies and wasn't going to be available for a bit. Ryne Nelson has been called up in a corresponding roster move to start Thursday's series opener versus the Cubs.

ROTOWIRE
To be optioned
The Diamondbacks will option Jarvis to Triple-A Reno on Thursday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Impact
Ryne Nelson is set to come up from the minors for a spot start Thursday, so Jarvis will be pushed off the active roster to free up a spot. Jarvis has posted a solid 3.21 ERA and 1.14 WHIP across 14 innings in the majors this season, so there's a chance he returns to Arizona's bullpen following Nelson's start.

Works in bulk relief Saturday
Jarvis gave up one earned run on two hits and one walk over 3.2 innings out of the bullpen en route to picking up his first big-league win in Saturday's 8-1 victory over the Padres...
Impact
Jarvis pitched behind opener Scott McGough, who tossed 2.1 scoreless innings before turning the game over to the rookie. Though Jarvis has now turned given up just two earned runs over 6.2 innings through his first two appearances with Arizona, he may end up serving as more of a pure reliever going forward rather than a primary pitcher. Arizona is expected to get some reinforcement to its rotation later this week, when Zach Davies (back) will likely be activated from the 15-day injured list.

ROTOWIRE
Makes MLB debut
Jarvis allowed one run on one hit and one walk while striking out three over three innings in Tuesday's 8-5 win over the Rockies.
Impact
Jarvis made his MLB debut after being summoned from Triple-A Reno on Sunday. He was given the bulk-inning role, throwing 51 pitches on what was a bullpen effort Tuesday. The right-hander was a starter in the minors but transitioned to the bullpen at Reno in preparation for a relief role for the Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks are down a starter, so Jarvis could continue in a similar bulk-inning role for now. Zach Davies (back) was roughed up in his second rehab start Tuesday but did get up to 80 pitches. If the Diamondbacks hold him back for another rehab start, Jarvis could see bulk innings this coming Sunday.

Will pitch relief
Jarvis will pitch out of the bullpen in the majors, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Jarvis has been a starter throughout his minor league career but was recently moved to the bullpen at Triple-A Reno. The Diamondbacks are short starters right now and could use Jarvis for multiple innings in a variety of roles until the rotation is sorted out. The first step toward normalizing the rotation is a healthy Zach Davies (back). He's scheduled to make a second rehab start Tuesday and could return the following Sunday.
