Making spring debut Rooker (forearm) will start in left field and will bat cleanup Monday in the Twins' Grapefruit League game against the Rays, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
Impact Rooker's rookie season came to a quick end in mid-September, when he was diagnosed with a fractured right forearm that required surgery. The 26-year-old was cleared to resume swinging a bat early in the offseason, and the Twins' decision to use him in the field rather than at designated hitter this early in spring training suggests he's already completed his throwing program. Rooker will get the opportunity to compete for a bench role with the big club during spring training, but since he still has three minor-league options remaining, there's a good chance he begins the season at Triple-A St. Paul, where he would be able to play on an everyday basis.

Resumes hitting Rooker (forearm) was cleared to resume swinging a bat Monday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Impact Rooker appears to be making good progress since requiring surgery in late September to address a fractured right forearm. The 26-year-old will likely gradually ramp up the intensity of his workouts throughout the winter with the aim of receiving full clearance ahead of spring training. He'll likely be competing for a spot on the Twins' Opening Day roster in 2021 as a right-handed bench bat.

To 10-day IL Rooker was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a fractured right forearm.
Impact This was inevitable after Rooker was hit by a pitch that broke his right forearm Saturday. He should be fully recovered for spring training 2021. Max Kepler (groin) was activated in a corresponding move.

Out with fractured forearm Rooker will miss the rest of the 2020 season after suffering a fractured right forearm Saturday against the Indians, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Impact The 25-year-old sustained a displaced fracture of his right forearm when he was hit by a pitch during Saturday's contest, an injury which will be addressed via surgery. Rooker joined the Twins last week and went 6-for-19 with one home run, two doubles, four runs and five RBIs over seven games in his first taste of major-league ball.
SEPTEMBER 13, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Exits with forearm injury Rooker left Saturday's game against the Indians in the fourth inning with a right forearm injury after being hit by a pitch, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
Impact Rooker got hit near his right elbow and was able to walk toward first base but later left the game. Jake Cave replaced him in right field.

Launches first career homer Rooker went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run during a 6-4 loss to the Cardinals in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader.
Impact After sitting on the bench during a 7-3 win by the Twins in the matinee, Rooker took over for Jake Cave in right field during the nightcap and launched his first career homer off Daniel Ponce de Leon in the second inning to briefly give Minnesota a lead. Rooker hasn't look out of place since his promotion, slashing .278/.316/.500 through his first six MLB games with five RBI.
SEPTEMBER 9, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Takes advantage of opportunity Rooker went 1-for-5 with a double, two RBI and one run scored Sunday against the Tigers.
Impact Rooker started the game in the place of Nelson Cruz (hip) and delivered a double in the bottom of the fifth inning that plated two. He's now recorded hits in each of his last three appearances, though they were all base knocks prior to this performance. If Cruz misses any more time, Rooker is a candidate for increased at-bats given the additional absence of Max Kepler (groin).
