Summoned to start Monday's game The Orioles recalled Young from Triple-A Norfolk on Monday.

Impact Young will be the starting pitcher for Monday's game against the White Sox, filling in for the injured Zach Eflin (elbow). The right-hander really struggled in 12 starts for the Orioles in 2025, finishing with a 6.24 ERA and 47:22 K:BB over 57.2 innings. Young could earn an additional start this weekend against the Giants if he pitches well, though Dean Kremer is a likelier option to fill that slot.

Optioned to minor-league camp The Orioles optioned Young to minor-league camp Saturday, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

Impact Young made 12 starts for Baltimore last season, pitching to an unsightly 6.24 ERA and 1.54 WHIP over 57.2 innings. He was always a long shot to break camp given the Orioles' pitching additions over the offseason. The right-hander will presumably stay stretched out as starting depth at Triple-A Norfolk.

Poor first spring appearance Young was charged with a blown save during Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers, allowing one run on three hits and one walk in two innings. He struck out two.

Impact Young served up a solo home run to Austin Slater in the third inning. The 27-year-old right-hander is in contention to begin the season in Baltimore's rotation, but he'll need to bounce back soon in order to keep pace with the club's other candidates. After posting a 6.24 ERA and 1.54 WHIP over 12 regular-season starts in 2025, Young appears initially to be the least likely of Dean Kremer, Tyler Wells and Cade Povich to crack the Opening Day rotation.
