Hit hard Tuesday Pfaadt (8-7) took the loss Tuesday against the Mets, allowing eight runs (six earned) on eight hits and a walk while striking out six over 4.2 innings.
Impact Pfaadt allowed two runs in the second inning including a leadoff solo home run to Pete Alonso and things completely imploded in the fifth. The Mets began the inning by reeling off five straight hits against Pfaadt, leading to three more runs before he was eventually pulled with the bases loaded. Jordan Montgomery, who was recently demoted to the bullpen, came in for him and allowed another three runs before finally getting out of the frame. Tuesday was Pfaadt's first loss since June 19 despite holding a 6.29 ERA over his last six starts. For the year, he owns a 4.31 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 145:32 K:BB in 154.2 innings. Pfaadt lines up to face the Dodgers at home this weekend.

Overall, Pfaat sports a 3.92 ERA with a 1.11 WHIP and an impressive 124:29 K:BB across 137.2 innings this season. He's currently slated to face the Rockies at home early next week in his next outing.

He'll try to get back in the win column in his next start, which lines up to come on the road next week in Cleveland.

Impact Pfaadt surrendered a solo home run to Oneil Cruz in the top of the first before going 1-2-3 through the next three innings. The right-hander would then struggle his way through the fifth, allowing three consecutive hits to open the frame, leading to three more runs coming home for Pittsburgh. Still, Pfaadt was able to come away with his fifth win of the campaign and the second in his last three starts despite the lackluster outing. He's now gone at least six innings in each of his last three starts and in six of his last seven overall. Saturday also marked the first time in his last five outings that he surrendered more than one run.

Impact Pfaadt's most recent start this past Saturday against the Padres was cut short when he was struck on the left ankle by a comebacker, but he was diagnosed with nothing more than a bruise after X-rays returned negative. The right-hander was able to complete his between-starts bullpen session with no apparent discomfort, so he shouldn't face any restrictions when he takes the hill Thursday on his typical four days' rest.
