Positive showing in win Pfaadt (1-1) allowed one run on three hits and a walk while striking out two over 5.1 innings to earn the win over the Giants on Tuesday.

Impact Pfaadt had a good game, and he likely had some more left in the tank after throwing just 66 pitches (42 strikes). He had been stretching back out at Triple-A Reno after a stint in the Diamondbacks' bullpen following his shaky start to the season. The right-hander is now at a 5.40 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 33:18 K:BB through 43.1 innings over 14 appearances (four starts) in the majors this season. Pfaadt is tentatively scheduled for a road start in San Diego if he gets another turn through the rotation.

Officially promoted The Diamondbacks recalled Pfaadt from Triple-A Reno ahead of his start Tuesday against the Giants.

Impact Pfaadt owns a 5.92 ERA and 1.50 WHIP through 38 innings in the majors this season, but he's given up just three runs (two earned) in 10 frames since being sent down to Reno on June 4. He'll now rejoin Arizona's rotation and make his first start since April 11 against a Giants offense that's turned in a .686 OPS across its last 10 games. Juan Burgos was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Making start for Arizona on Friday Pfaadt will join the Diamondbacks' rotation with a start Friday against the Rays, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

Impact Pfaadt has been at Triple-A Reno getting stretched back out after he had been used in relief toward the end of his previous stint with Arizona. The right-hander threw 52 pitches over 3.2 innings in his last outing with Reno on June 20, so he will still be somewhat limited from a workload perspective Friday. Pfaaft should receive at least one additional start for the Diamondbacks after Friday as Ryne Nelson (elbow) and Michael Soroka (glute) continue their recoveries.

Impact Pfaadt, who made his third start since being demoted to the Aces, upped his pitch count to 52 (36 strikes). At the time of his demotion, the right-hander was pitching in a relief role for Arizona and needed to be built back up as a starter. He owns a 1.80 ERA and 0.80 WHIP over 10 innings in the Pacific Coast League. With the Diamondbacks having placed two starters on the injured list over the weekend, Pfaadt is expected to eventually ascend to the major-league rotation once his pitch count gets up to the 75-80 range, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports.

Optioned to Reno The Diamondbacks optioned Pfaadt to Triple-A Reno on Thursday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Impact Manager Torey Lovullo said Wednesday that Pfaadt could be stretched out into a starter in the near future, and his demotion to Triple-A suggests that the D-backs are already putting that plan into motion. While the 27-year-old works on building up his workload, Kade Strowd and Philip Abner will come up from Reno to fill the open spots in Arizona's bullpen.
