Richard Fitts - Resumes mound work Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Wednesday that Fitts (pectoral) will throw another bullpen session Thursday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.
Impact It will be his second time throwing off the mound since he landed on the 15-day injured list in mid-April with a right pectoral strain. Fitts will eventually need to make a rehab start or two, and he will likely be optioned to Triple-A Worcester, assuming Walker Buehler's (shoulder) recovering doesn't linger.

Trevor Story - Drops to sixth in order Story batted sixth and went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Tuesday's 6-1 loss to the Rangers.
Impact Story had mostly batted fifth this season and had a stretch as the cleanup hitter, but the shortstop has been tough to watch of late. After Tuesday's 0-fer, he's hitting .120 (6-for-50) with a .305 OPS, one RBI and 19 strikeouts (35.2 strikeout percentage) over the last 12 contests. Prior to that, Story had an 18-game stretch during which he posted a .378 average and 1.011 OPS.

Kristian Campbell - Bats cleanup again Campbell batted cleanup for a second straight game and went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Tuesday's 6-1 loss to Texas.
Impact Campbell produced Boston's lone run, singling home Alex Bregman, who had doubled ahead of him in the order. Red Sox manager Alex Cora has adjusted the order the last week, dropping a slumping Trevor Story from cleanup to fifth then sixth Tuesday. Wilyer Abreu, who took over cleanup for a stretch of games, was moved to fifth.

Abraham Toro - Makes first start Toro started at first base and went 1-for-3 in Tuesday's 6-1 loss to the Rangers.
Impact It was mostly a good night for Toro, who made his first since having his contract selected from Triple-A Worcester last Saturday. He was involved in an unassisted double play early and later roped an opposite-field single off the Green Monster but was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double. Romy Gonzalez had started the two previous games at first base in place of the injured Triston Casas (knee) before Toro got his shot Tuesday. For now, there are no plans to move Rafael Devers move from DH to first base, so it looks like manager Alex Cora will make do with a Toro/Gonzalez rotation.

Lucas Giolito - Roughed up by Rangers Giolito (0-1) yielded six runs on 10 hits and a walk over 3.2 innings Tuesday, striking out two and taking a loss against Texas.
Impact Giolito gave up just one run through three innings before the Rangers piled on five runs in the fourth. It was a big step back after producing a quality start with seven strikeouts in his season debut. Giolito threw 49 of 74 pitches for strikes and forced only six whiffs. He'll carry an 8.38 ERA into his next matchup, which is lined up to be in Kansas City this weekend.
