Tosses seven no-hit innings Snell (7-5) earned the win over Arizona on Tuesday, pitching seven scoreless and hitless innings during which he walked two batters and struck out 10.
Impact Snell came within six outs of pitching his first career no-hitter, but manager Jayce Tingler elected to pull him from the game after 107 pitches. The fact that the left-hander threw a career-high 122 pitches in his previous outing likely contributed to his removal, and Snell said after the game that the decision was "just smart," according to AJ Cassavell of MLB.com. The 28-year-old punched out 10 batters for the second straight outing and induced an impressive 19 swinging strikes while extending his recent run of strong starts -- he has now allowed three or fewer runs in each of his past six outings, posting a 1.72 ERA and 54:12 K:BB across 36.2 innings over that stretch. Snell's next start will likely come at home against the Angels early next week.

Strong outing wasted Snell allowed one run on three hits and struck out 10 over a career-high 7.2 innings Wednesday against the Dodgers but did not end up factoring into the decision.
Impact Snell went toe-to-toe with Walker Buehler in this one. He held the Dodgers scoreless over seven innings and went back out for the eighth despite being at 106 pitches. The 28-year-old southpaw opened the frame with a strikeout but would end up surrendering a game-tying homer to Will Smith. He remained in to face Cody Bellinger and punched him out, ending his day at 10 strikeouts and a career-high 122 pitches. Snell generated an outstanding 21 whiffs on the evening and has been impressive this month with a 2.12 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 44:10 K:BB over 29.2 innings. He's reached the seven-inning mark twice over his last four starts after managing to do so just one other time this season. Snell now owns a 4.58 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 149:65 K:BB over 114 innings. He lines up for a favorable start against the Diamondbacks next week, a team he's had incredible success against in three tries so far this year.

Fans nine but takes loss Snell (6-5) was tagged with the loss Friday against the Phillies after allowing three runs on two hits and two walks across five innings, striking out nine.
Impact Snell has recorded at least six strikeouts in each of his last four appearances and has notched at least nine punchouts in four starts throughout the year, but that wasn't enough to get the win here. Even though Snell has pitched more than five innings just once in four starts this month, he hasn't allowed more than three runs in any of those outings and owns a 2.45 ERA across 22 innings in that stretch.

Fans six in five innings Snell pitched five innings against Arizona on Friday, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out six. He did not factor in the decision.
Impact Snell didn't come close to matching the seven-inning, 13-strikeout performance he produced against Arizona his last time out, but he at least kept San Diego in the game by surrendering just two runs over five frames. The left-hander threw 61 of 101 pitches for strikes and walked fewer than three batters for the first time in his past eight starts. Snell has shown improvement with providing length of late, going at least five innings in three straight starts after doing so only four times in his previous 13 outings. He'll likely make his next start at Coors Field against Colorado next week.

Padres pregame: Snell v. Bumgarner, Part II; Tatis still on injured list Blake Snell beat Madison Bumgarner on Sunday when the Padres and Diamondbacks met in San Diego
AUGUST 13, 2021 • SANDIEGOUNIONTRIBUNE.COM
Strikes out 13 Snell (6-4) won Sunday's 2-0 shutout of Arizona, allowing two hits and three walks with 13 strikeouts in seven innings.
Impact Snell dominated Arizona all game, throwing 72 of a season-high 108 pitches for strikes, and was never threatened by a weak lineup. After going more than four innings just once in July, the former CY Young winner has won consecutive starts to begin August, achieving a new season high in pitches in each and permitting just a single run across 12 total innings.

Earns win while fanning six Snell (5-4) earned the win Tuesday against the Athletics after tossing five innings of one-run ball, allowing five hits and three walks while fanning six.
Impact Snell has been very inconsistent this season and interspersed some particularly poor outings among his strong performances, but Tuesday's effort certainly qualified under the latter category. Snell has posted four starts with one or fewer runs allowed over his last seven appearances, but he has given up at least four runs in each of the remaining three in that span, including two starts in which he gave up seven runs. Despite the success against Oakland, it remains difficult to trust him due to those inconsistencies, which are reflected in the 5.24 ERA he'll carry into his next start.
AUGUST 4, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Tagged for seven runs Snell (4-4) was tagged for seven runs on seven hits and four walks while fanning one in Wednesday's loss against the Athletics.
Impact Snell had a rough outing Wednesday and he's been very inconsistent of late, as he has given up four or more earned runs in three of his last six appearances -- including in two of his last three. The lefty owns a 5.44 ERA on the season, which is a huge step in the wrong direction after he posted a 3.24 ERA during the 2020 shortened campaign.

Fans eight in win Snell (4-3) allowed a run on three hits and three walks while striking out eight in six-plus innings to earn the win Thursday over Miami.
Impact The 28-year-old completed six innings for just the third time in 18 starts this year. In his three longest starts, he's allowed a combined two runs. Snell was on the hook for one of Miami's two runs in the seventh inning, but he got a well-earned win Thursday. Overall, he's struggled to a 4.93 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 104:51 K:BB through 80.1 innings this season. He continues to walk batters at an alarming rate of 5.7 BB/9, which has led to shorter outings due to high pitch counts. Snell projects to make his next start at home versus Oakland next week.
