DFA'd by Cleveland
Gamel was designated for assignment by Cleveland on Wednesday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
Impact
The 28-year-old was optioned to the alternate training site in mid-April and has now been removed from Cleveland's 40-man roster. Gamel spent the first couple weeks of the season in the majors and went 1-for-14 in 11 appearances.

Sent down Saturday
Gamel was optioned to Cleveland's alternate training site Saturday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Gamel had minimal time in the starting lineup to begin the season and hit .071 with a double and one run in 17 plate appearances. He'll now be removed from the major-league roster after left-hander Sam Hentges was recalled from the alternate training site in a corresponding move.

Benched versus righty
Gamel is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.
Impact
The lefty-hitting Gamel's absence from the lineup for the first two games of the series wasn't a surprise with southpaws Derek Holland and Tarik Skubal making starts for Detroit, but the outfielder will be taking a seat Sunday with right-hander Jose Urena on the bump for the Tigers. Meanwhile, Amed Rosario will be making his third straight start in center field, perhaps signaling that manager Terry Francona has at least temporarily elected to abandon the platoon of Gamel and Jordan Luplow at the position. Rosario has a meager .267/.313/.267 slash line through six games, so he hasn't exactly run away with a full-time job just yet.

Remains on bench Saturday

Impact
Gamel will be out of the starting lineup for the fourth time in the past five games. Amed Rosario will start in center field against left-hander Tarik Skubal on Saturday, batting sixth.

Out of lineup Friday
Gamel is not in the lineup Friday against the Tigers.
Impact
Gamel has started one of the past three games and will remain on the bench again Friday. Amed Rosario will receive his first start of the season in center field versus Detroit righty Julio Teheran.

Out again versus southpaw
Gamel is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Royals.
Impact
Cleveland is facing a lefty starting pitcher (Danny Duffy) for the third time in four games to open the season, so Gamel will once again find himself on the bench while platoon mate Jordan Luplow picks up another start in center field. Kansas City has yet to announce a starting pitcher for the second game of the series Wednesday, making it uncertain whether Gamel will re-enter the lineup.

Sitting against lefty again
Gamel is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Gamel will be on the bench for the second time in three games to begin the season, but he's still expected to see the bulk of the starts in center field for Cleveland as the lefty-hitting option of a platoon. Jordan Luplow gets the nod in center Sunday with lefty Tarik Skubal on the bump for Detroit.

Brewers decline 2021 options on Gyorko, Sogard, Gamel
The Milwaukee Brewers have declined 2021 options on infielders Jedd Gyorko and Eric Sogard as well as outfielder Ben Gamel

Optioned declined but not released
Gamel's $2.55 team option was declined by the Brewers on Friday, though he remains a member of the team as he's still arbitration eligible, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
Impact
The Brewers could seek to bring Gamel back at a lower dollar figure, though he could also potentially be non-tendered. His .245/.331/.381 slash line in his two seasons as a Brewer is passable for a bench player but not good enough for a regular starter on a contender.

Returns for postseason
The Brewers reinstated Gamel (quadriceps) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday ahead of Game 1 of the team's wild-card series with the Dodgers, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Milwaukee cleared a spot for Gamel on the 28-man active roster by omitting star reliever Devin Williams, who will be sidelined for the three-game series with a right shoulder injury. Gamel, who slashed .237/.315/.404 over 127 plate appearances in the regular season before suffering the left quad strain, is expected to serve as a fourth outfielder for Milwaukee during the wild-card round.

Done for season
Gamel (quad) was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact
Gamel's injury has been diagnosed as a quadriceps strain, and it will indeed cost him the remainder of the regular season. The team's hottest hitter coming out of summer camp, Gamel ended up slashing just .237/.315/.404 with three homers in 127 plate appearances. Tyrone Taylor and Jace Peterson are now the team's top reserve outfielders.

Dealing with quad injury
Gamel was removed from Friday's win against the Royals with a quadriceps injury, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact
Gamel entered the game in the bottom of the fourth inning to replace Ryan Braun (back), but he suffered an injury of his own during the contest. In his postgame press conference, manager Craig Counsell said that he isn't sure whether Gamel will be available for Saturday's contest.

Fades into reserve role
Gamel is out of the lineup for the first game of Monday's doubleheader with the Cardinals.
Impact
The lefty-hitting Gamel typically doesn't start against southpaws like the Cardinals' Kwang Hyun Kim, but the outfielder's playing time against right-handed pitching could be trending down as well. Since the Brewers claimed Daniel Vogelbach off waivers earlier this month, he's stepped in as the team's primary designated hitter versus righties, resulting in Ryan Braun spending more time in the outfield at Gamel's expense.

Leads off in third straight
Gamel hit leadoff for the third game in a row Friday and went 3-for-5 with a run.
Impact
Gamel really struggled at the plate for much of August, but since snapping an 0-for-20 skid Aug. 19 he has hit a blistering .405, with 15 hits in 37 at-bats. His hot streak earned him a bump to the top of the order, and he has done well in that role, reaching base seven times over the last three games. He may not hit as high up next time the Brewers face a left-hander, but as long as he keeps producing he should continue receiving opportunities to lead off.

On base four times
Gamel went 3-for-3 with an RBI single, two runs scored and a walk in Monday's 6-5 win over the Pirates.
Impact
Gamel got on with a single in the second inning and scored on an Eric Sogard single. In the fourth, Gamel plated Christian Yelich to put the Brewers ahead 3-2. Gamel scored again in the eighth, smacking a double and dashing home on Orlando Arcia's single for what would be the decisive run. The productive outing lifted Gamel's slash line to .232/.292/.427 through 89 plate appearances. He's popped three homers with 10 RBI and eight runs scored in 28 games.
