Brandon Young - Recalled to make start Friday The Orioles recalled Young from Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday and he will start in Friday's game versus the Red Sox, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact Young's promotion comes in a corresponding move to Dean Kremer (quad) being placed on the 15-day injured list, restrictive to April 20. Young has made two starts for Triple-A Norfolk since being optioned down following a spot start. In them, he surrendered earned run on one hit with a 15:3 K:BB across 11.2 innings.

Pete Alonso - Continues to heat up with homer Alonso went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run scored Wednesday in the Orioles' 8-6 win over the Royals.
Impact Alonso belted just his third long ball of the season Wednesday. The All-Star first baseman has struggled to get it going at the plate to begin his Orioles career, but he's slowly beginning to pick things up recently. Over his last 49 plate appearances (11 games), Alonso is slashing .275/.408/.525 with two big flies, four doubles and seven RBI to increase his OPS for the campaign to .699.

Anthony Nunez - Nets first save Nunez earned the save in Wednesday's 8-6 win over the Royals, striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning.
Impact With Ryan Helsley landing on the bereavement list ahead of Wednesday's game, it was Nunez who got the call with Baltimore up by two in the ninth inning. The right-hander made quick work of the Royals, striking out a pair en route to his first major-league save. The 24-year-old Nunez has gotten off to an excellent start in his rookie campaign, earning a high-leverage role in Baltimore's bullpen. His ERA is down to 1.46 with a 0.65 WHIP and 15:2 K:BB across 12.1 innings.

Chris Bassitt - Grabs first win Bassitt (1-2) picked up the win Wednesday over the Royals, allowing five runs on eight hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out three.
Impact It wasn't Bassitt's best outing, but the right-hander did snag his first win with the Orioles, as Baltimore rallied for six runs in the sixth inning en route to an 8-6 victory. Through five starts this year, Bassitt sports a subpar 6.75 ERA with a 2.06 WHIP and 10:13 K:BB. He's currently slated to face the Astros at home in his next outing.

Jose Espada - Receives call-up The Orioles recalled Espada from Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.
Impact Espada will provide reinforcement to an Orioles bullpen that will be without closer Ryan Helsley (personal), who was placed on the bereavement list Wednesday in a corresponding move. Though he's unlikely to enter the mix for save chances while he's up with Baltimore, Espada will provide the Orioles with a fresh arm in middle relief. Espada has posted a 5.40 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and 7:9 K:BB in 10 innings with Norfolk this season.
APRIL 22 • ROTOWIRE
Ryan Helsley - Deactivated due to family emergency The Orioles placed Helsley on the bereavement/family medical emergency list Wednesday.
Impact Per MLB rules, Helsley will be away from the Orioles for a minimum of three days and a maximum of seven days after going on bereavement leave. After signing a two-year deal with Baltimore over the winter, Helsley has gotten off to a respectable start to the season as the team's closer, converting all six of his save chances while pitching to a 2.79 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 15:7 K:BB in 9.2 innings. Rico Garcia (0.75 ERA, 0.42 WHIP in 12 innings) and Yennier Cano (1.23 ERA, 0.68 WHIP in 7.1 innings) have been the Orioles' top-performing setup arms this season and could be the top choices for save chances while Helsley is deactivated.

Blaze Alexander - Sitting after three straight starts Alexander is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.
Impact Alexander had cracked the lineup in each of the last three games, making starts at third base, center field and right field while going 0-for-10 at the plate. The 27-year-old's ability to play multiple infield and outfield spots has helped him see semi-regular starts for most of the season, but his poor offensive production has prevented him from solidifying a full-time role. Alexander is slashing just .185/.254/.204 with a 31.7 percent strikeout rate over 60 plate appearances on the campaign.
APRIL 22 • ROTOWIRE
Adley Rutschman - Taking seat Wednesday Rutschman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.
Impact Rutschman returned with a bang Tuesday following a stint on the injured list, going 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in the Orioles' 6-5 loss. With the Orioles wrapping up their series in Kansas City with a day game after a night game, Rutschman will receive a breather Wednesday, but now that he's healthy again, he should be locked into a near-everyday role between catching and serving as a designated hitter.

APRIL 22 • Associated Press
Coby Mayo - Breaks through with first homer Mayo went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Tuesday's 6-5 loss to the Royals.
Impact Mayo delivered a much-needed swing, launching a three-run homer off Kris Bubic in the second inning for his first long ball of the season. The long ball accounted for most of Baltimore's offense and marked a potential turning point after the young first baseman's slow start. Entering Tuesday, Mayo was slashing just .148/.258/.185 with only two extra-base hits across 62 plate appearances. He'll need to rattle off more performances like this one to solidify his role moving forward.
APRIL 22 • ROTOWIRE
Shane Baz - Labors through traffic Tuesday Baz did not factor into the decision Tuesday against the Royals, allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out four over 6.1 innings.
Impact Baz worked through constant traffic but held things together until the fifth inning, when back-to-back hits led to a run and a sacrifice fly from Vinnie Pasquantino added another. The right-hander managed to push through 6.1 innings -- his longest outing of the season -- but he has now allowed at least 6 hits in four of his five starts, and the consistent contact against him proved costly. Baz owns a 5.08 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 23:10 K:BB across 28.1 innings this season and will face a tough test in his next outing against Houston.
