INJURIES

Swats third homer Slater went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Rockies.
Impact The 30-year-old outfielder began the game on the bench, but he pinch hit for Mike Yastrzemski in the fifth inning against southpaw reliever Brad Hand and launched what proved to be the game-winning homer. Slater has only two hits in his last nine games but both of them have left the yard, and his extreme splits -- he boasts a 1.006 OPS in 48 plate appearances against lefties this season, but only a .759 mark in 39 PAs against righties -- should keep him in a short-side platoon role in the second half.

Heads to bench Slater is not in the starting lineup Friday versus the Mets, Amy Gutierrez of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact Slater will take a seat after he went 1-for-8 with a solo home run and four strikeouts over the last two games of the team's series with Toronto. Joc Pederson will start in right field while Wilmer Flores enters the lineup at designated hitter and bats second in the series opener with New York.

Provides only offense in loss Slater went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-1 loss to the Blue Jays.
Impact He wasn't even in the starting lineup, but Slater stepped in when Michael Conforto exited the game with a hamstring issue after making a catch in the bottom of the first inning. Slater then gave the Giants their only spark of offense by taking Bowden Francis deep in the fifth for his second homer of the year. The 30-year-old outfielder has only started one of the last seven games while stuck on the short side of a platoon, but his workload against right-handed pitching figures to increase if Conforto ends up missing more time. Slater certainly hasn't hurt his case for a bigger role with a .391/.435/.516 slash line in 69 plate appearances this season.

Big game off bench Slater went 3-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored in Friday's 7-5 extra-innings win over the Dodgers.
Impact Slater didn't start Friday, but he entered as a pinch hitter for LaMonte Wade in the eighth inning. Slater then racked up three singles, including one to plate an insurance run in the 11th. The 30-year-old outfielder continues to be a force against left-handed pitchers -- two of his three hits Friday came against southpaws. Slater owns a .431/.463/.529 slash line with a home run, 10 RBI, eight runs scored and two stolen bases through 54 plate appearances this season, mainly in a short-side platoon role.
JUNE 17, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Three hits in win Slater went 3-for-5 with a run scored in Monday's 4-3 win over the Cardinals.
Impact Slater has hit safely in five of his last six games, going 8-for-17 (.471) in that span. The outfielder's solid stretch of hitting has helped him get into the lineup versus two of the last seven righties the Giants have faced in addition to his usual spot atop the order versus lefties. He's slashing .400/.438/.511 with one home run, two stolen bases, nine RBI and six runs scored over 48 plate appearances this season.

Back from injured list Slated was activated from the 10-day injured list by the Giants on Monday.
Impact Slater wound up missing about two-and-a-half weeks of action with a left hamstring strain. He played in one rehab game over the weekend which was evidently enough to convince the Giants he was ready. Slater will go back to playing regularly against left-handed pitching.
MAY 29, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Rehab assignment coming Slater (hamstring) will likely begin a rehab assignment Saturday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact Slater resumed running over the weekend and is now nearing the final stage of his recovery process. Slater landed on the injured list May 11 with a hamstring strain -- already his second trip to the IL this season.
MAY 26, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Will start running over weekend Slater (hamstring) will start a running program over the weekend after resuming baseball activities earlier in the week, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Impact Slater has been able to swing the bat and throw, but the outfielder will take the next step over the weekend as he works his way back from his left hamstring strain. Assuming there's no setbacks, Slater has a good chance to start a rehab assignment after the weekend with an opportunity for him to return to the Giants by the end of May.
MAY 19, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Heads back to IL San Francisco placed Slater on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a left hamstring strain, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact Slater suffered the injury while running down the first base line Wednesday versus the Nationals and will likely be sidelined for at least a couple of weeks. He missed most of April with the very same injury. Bryce Johnson is joining the Giants' active roster in a corresponding move.
MAY 11, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Leaves with hamstring tightness Slater left Wednesday's game against the Nationals with left hamstring tightness, Sonja Chen of MLB.com reports.
Impact Slater picked up the hamstring injury while hustling down the first base line and couldn't continue. The outfielder should be considered day-to-day, but there's a good chance he'll sit out the series finale against the Nationals on Thursday. It's also worth noting this is the same hamstring that Slater injured prior to the start of the season and kept him on the injured list for the majority of April.
MAY 10, 2023 • ROTOWIRE

MAY 10, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Two hits, steal in win Slater went 2-for-4 with an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Astros.
Impact Slater started in center field and led off against the left-handed Framber Valdez, logging a pair of singles and his second stolen base of the season. It was only Slater's third start after missing the first three weeks of the season with a hamstring injury. He's gotten off to a hot start at the plate, going 6-for-12 with a double. While Slater offers some stolen base upside, his role in the short side of a platoon makes it hard to rely on him for fantasy purposes.
MAY 3, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Notches first steal Slater went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 7-3 win over the Cardinals.
Impact Slater's off to a fantastic start since returning from a hamstring strain. He's gone 4-for-7 across two games, and he's already recorded his first steal of the season. The outfielder remains a short-side platoon option, but he's recorded double-digit thefts in each of the last two years, so he could provide some extra speed in deeper fantasy formats.
APRIL 27, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Collects two hits in return Slater went 2-for-3 in Monday's 4-0 win over the Cardinals.
Impact Slater missed the first three-plus weeks of the season with a left hamstring strain. Now that he's back, he'll likely be a short-side platoon option in the outfield as well as one of the Giants' top right-handed bats off the bench to face lefty relievers. In a similar role last year, he slashed .264/.366/.408 with seven home runs, 34 RBI, 49 runs scored and 12 stolen bases over 325 plate appearances.
APRIL 25, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Returns from 10-day IL Slater (hamstring) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list ahead of Monday's game against the Cardinals, Danny Emerman of KNBR 680 San Francisco reports.
Impact Slater landed on the injured list at the end of March after suffering a left hamstring strain, but he's been given the green light to make his season debut. He'll enter the starting lineup Monday with a southpaw in Jordan Montgomery set to toe the rubber for St. Louis.
APRIL 24, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Nearing return Slater (hamstring) is getting close to a return, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact Giants manager Gabe Kapler said Slater likely won't return to the lineup Friday against left-hander Joey Lucchesi, but it appears that the 30-year-old outfielder will be able to make his season debut relatively soon. Slater has slashed .333/.429/.667 across 14 plate appearances in five minor-league rehab games.
APRIL 20, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Cleared for rehab games Slater (hamstring) was cleared Friday to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact San Francisco is hurting for outfield help, but Slater might spend several days in the minors after missing the final stretch of spring training and the first three weeks of the regular season due to a left hamstring strain. He's not expected to join the Giants on their current road trip, which runs through next Wednesday.
APRIL 14, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Road trip return unlikely Giants manager Gabe Kapler said Tuesday that Slater (hamstring) is unlikely to rejoin the team for their upcoming road trip, Danny Emerman of KNBR 680 San Francisco reports.
Impact After Kapler said Friday that Slater could make his return during the upcoming road trip, it appears the 30-year-old outfielder's debut will instead be pushed back a bit further. Slater has been held out of action since straining his hamstring in mid-March.
APRIL 11, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Could debut during road trip Giants manager Gabe Kapler said on Friday that Slater (hamstring) is likely to debut during the team's next road trip, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact This puts him in line to return some time between April 14-19. Slater has been sidelined with a strained hamstring since March 16 and was just cleared for baseball activity Saturday. Once he returns, Slater will likely slide into an outfield depth role.
APRIL 7, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Advances to baseball activity Slater (hamstring) has been cleared for baseball activities, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Impact Slater has been out with a strained hamstring since mid-March. His original timeline held that he'd return in three or four weeks, though he might wind up missing a bit more than that. He's set to be reevaluated when the Giants return home next Friday, at which point a clearer timeline should emerge.
