Martin has been a good source of batting average and on-base percentage, but he's not doing much else. He's also been caught stealing an MLB-high four times. Martin should continue to see regular playing time with his hot bat and good eye at the dish.

Impact That the righty-swinging Martin is in the lineup versus lefty Patrick Corbin is not a surprise. However, he's now started in right field three times in the last four games, and the first two of those game against righties. Martin has been one of the Twins' best hitters this season and could be emerging as the team's preferred option in right field over the struggling Matt Wallner.

Impact After manning left field and occupying the leadoff spot in the Twins' season opener Thursday against Orioles southpaw Trevor Rogers, the right-handed-hitting Martin has dropped out of the lineup for two straight games while Minnesota has faced right-handed starters. At least in the early stages of the campaign, Martin looks like he may have to settle for the short side of a platoon in the corner outfield with Trevor Larnach or Matt Wallner.

Bats leadoff Martin went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Thursday's loss against the Orioles. He started in left field and batted leadoff.

Impact It looks like Martin will bat leadoff against left-handed starters as he platoons in left field with James Outman or Trevor Larnach. Martin did make a mental error by throwing to the wrong base which led to a run, so he could be in the manger's doghouse in the short term.

Rejoining lineup Martin (concussion) is starting in left field and batting eighth in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against Atlanta.

Impact Martin suffered a concussion while playing the outfield last week, but he's apparently cleared the concussion protocol and is ready for game action. The 26-year-old is without an extra-base hit through 13 spring games but is batting .286 with a 5:4 BB:K and four stolen bases. Martin may not open the campaign with an everyday role but should still see at least semi-regular at-bats as a platoon outfielder.

Impact Martin was removed after three innings in Monday's game after sustaining a concussion. It's not clear if he'll be placed on the injured list to begin the regular season, but his activity Friday could indicate he'll be ready to play.
