Jordan Luplow - Making outfield debut Luplow (oblique) will start in left field and bat seventh in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Orioles.
Impact Due to a sore right oblique that he sustained in the early stages of spring training, Luplow didn't make his Grapefruit League debut until Sunday, when he went 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored while serving as Atlanta's designated hitter in an 11-3 win over the Pirates. With Luplow checking out fine following that contest, he'll now get the opportunity to play the outfield for the first time this spring. The righty-hitting Luplow profiles as a potential short-side platoon mate in left for the lefty-hitting Eddie Rosario.

Carmen Mlodzinski - Impressing in exhibition season Mlodzinski has thrown 5.1 scoreless innings while allowing one hit, striking out five and walking two in Grapefruit League action.
Impact Mlodzinski struggled on the surface to a 4.78 ERA across 105.1 innings with Double-A Altoona in 2022, but his 24.1 percent strikeout rate and 0.9 HR/9 were more impressive. He's in camp as a non-roster invitee and won't break camp with the Pirates, though he could start the campaign with Triple-A Indianapolis. Regardless of where he begins the regular season, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Mlodzinski make his big-league debut at some point in 2023.

Johan Oviedo - Making push for rotation Oviedo threw three scoreless innings while allowing two hits and striking out three in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Yankees.
Impact Oviedo is competing for a spot in the Pittsburgh rotation, and Saturday's outing was both his longest and most effective of the spring. According to Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Oveido threw his slider 61 percent of the time and threw 31 strikes on 41 total pitches. He may be on the outside looking in to start the regular season, but it's likely that he'll pitch as a traditional starter at some point during the 2023 campaign.
