Willy Adames - Unlikely to return before Saturday Adames (ankle) isn't expected to return before Saturday's game against Washington, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
Impact Adames sprained his left ankle Sunday against the Marlins. While he's avoided the injured list for now, the Brewers have yet to write off the possibility. He'll wind up missing at least five days and could miss at least 10 if he shows no improvement Wednesday.

Jace Peterson - Takes seat Tuesday Peterson is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Atlanta.
Impact Peterson will head to the bench after seven of the last eight games while seeing action at three different positions. Andrew McCutchen (illness) is expected to return from the COVID-19 injured list later this week and close off a potential avenue to playing time in the outfield or at designated hitter, but Peterson could continue to pick up starts in the infield if Willy Adames (ankle) is forced to the 10-day IL.

Omar Narváez - Sits against southpaw Narvaez will hit the bench Tuesday against Atlanta.
Impact Narvaez sits against southpaw Tucker Davidson, as he has against all but one lefty the Brewers have faced this season. Victor Caratini will take over behind the plate.

Andrew McCutchen - Likely to return by weekend Brewers president of baseball operations David Stearns said McCutchen (illness) will "probably" be activated from the COVID-19-related injured list ahead of Wednesday's series fina...
Impact Whether the Brewers choose to bring McCutchen back Wednesday or following Thursday's team off day will hinge on how he fares from a conditioning standpoint during his full workout Tuesday. While McCutchen has been on the shelf for the past week and a half, the Brewers have mostly rotated Rowdy Tellez and Christian Yelich at designated hitter, which has opened up more opportunities for Jace Peterson and Tyrone Taylor.

Trevor Kelley - Gets call-up to majors The Brewers selected Kelley's contract from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.
Impact To clear room for Kelley on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster, the Brewers placed J.C. Mejia on the restricted list after he was handed an 80-game suspension Tuesday for violating MLB's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. The right-handed Kelley last appeared in the majors in 2020, when he logged four appearances out of the Philadelphia bullpen. He was sharp over 13 innings with Nashville this season, posting an 0.69 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 17:14 K:BB.

J.C. Mejía - Dealt 80-game suspension Major League Baseball handed Mejia an 80-game suspension Tuesday for violating the Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
Impact He becomes the second Brewers player to receive an 80-game suspension this season, joining catcher Pedro Severino, who was handed his ban in early April. The Brewers will place Mejia on the restricted list as a result of the suspension, a transaction that opens up a spot on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster for right-hander Trevor Kelley, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Nashville. Mejia had made two appearances out of the bullpen since being promoted from the minors May 10, working 2.1 innings while giving up six earned runs. He'll be eligible for reinstatement from the suspension in mid-August.
