No clear return timeline Nationals manager Dave Martinez said Sunday that Strasburg (shoulder) doesn't have a clear timetable to return from the 10-day injured list, Dan Kolko of MASN Sports reports.

Impact Martinez noted that Strasburg was down after he felt off during his usual between-starts bullpen session, prompting the Nationals to send him in for an MRI. With the MRI revealing inflammation in his right shoulder, Strasburg will likely back off throwing for at least a few days before the Nationals check back in and see how he's healed. Until Strasburg begins throwing again off a mound, a firm target date for his return is unlikely to emerge. Paolo Espino was summoned from the Nationals' alternate site to replace Strasburg for a spot start Sunday against the Diamondbacks.

Turns in another bullpen session Harris (hand) completed a 26-pitch bullpen session Sunday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Impact Nationals manager Dave Martinez said Harris "looked OK" during the throwing session and will get back on the mound again Tuesday. Harris looks like he could be on track to return from the 10-day injured list before the end of April.

Another sim game scheduled Nationals manager Dave Martinez said Lester (COVID-19 injured list) is scheduled to throw a five-inning, 80-pitch simulated game Tuesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Impact Rather than inserting Lester into the rotation early during the upcoming week, the Nationals will have get a little more stretched out before he makes his 2021 and team debut. Assuming he feels fine physically following his simulated game, Lester could make his first start for Washington as soon as April 25 against the Mets.

Impact Though Arizona included Calhoun in its initial lineup for Sunday, he'll end up heading to the bench in what's believed to be an extended rest for the veteran ahead of Monday's team off day. Pavin Smith will cover right field in place of Calhoun.

Impact Harper will fill the opening in the Washington bullpen vacated by Wander Suero (oblique), who was placed on the 10-day injured list. The 32-year-old right-hander previously appeared in 23 games for the Nationals in 2020, logging a 7.61 ERA and 1.61 WHIP in 23.2 innings.
