Royce Lewis - Starts rehab assignment Tuesday Lewis (oblique) will start a rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A St. Paul, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Impact Lewis has been sidelined since July 1 with the left oblique strain. He will probably get evaluated after each game and it could be a matter of days before he is joining the big club. With Edouard Julien, Jorge Polanco and Carlos Correa playing pretty regularly on the infield, it's possible Lewis will return to a utility role, but the fact that the Twins don't have an everyday designated hitter could allow him to still see plenty of action.

Willi Castro - Gets fifth consecutive start Castro will start at third base and bat seventh in Monday's game against the Tigers, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Impact Though Michael Taylor appears to have wrested the everyday center field role away from Castro, the latter's defensive versatility will allow him to stick in the lineup for the fifth game in a row. Castro has now picked up three starts at third base and two in left field over those five games, contributing two stolen bases during that stretch to bring his total up to a team-high 28 for the season. The 26-year-old looks like he'll remain a mainstay in the lineup versus left-handed pitching, and he should be able to work his way into the starting nine at least semi-regularly versus right-handed pitching, too.

Matt Wallner - Sits in series opener Wallner is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Tigers, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Impact Wallner will be joined on the bench by fellow left-handed hitters Joey Gallo and Edouard Julien as the Tigers bring southpaw Joey Wentz to the hill for the series opener. Jordan Luplow will pick up the start in left field in place of Wallner, who appears on track to hold down a strong-side platoon role at least until the Twins get Alex Kirilloff (shoulder) back from the injured list.
