Impact The signing of veteran catcher James McCann was made official Monday, so Garcia's presence is no longer required. Garcia accepted an outright assignment by the Diamondbacks earlier this month and could do so again, assuming he clears waivers.

Impact It was reported Sunday that McCann was set to link up with Arizona, and now that contract has been made official. The veteran backstop will share catching duties with Jose Herrera while Gabriel Moreno (hand) is sidelined.
