Impact Garcia's seventh-inning long ball off Drew Steckenrider knotted the score at 4-4 though Oakland would eventually go on to lose the game in the ninth. It was the backstop's first home run since May 22 as he sees limited opportunities as the clear backup to Sean Murphy.

Modest numbers, opportunities Garcia finished the first half of the season with a .205/.233/.289 slash line, one double, two home runs, six RBI, one walk and seven runs across 88 plate appearances.
Impact As expected, Garcia is seeing only occasional playing time behind clear-cut starting backstop Sean Murphy, so the fact he hasn't gotten into a rhythm at the plate isn't overly surprising. The 28-year-old's extended pattern of struggling to make consistent contact against a higher level of pitching has also persisted; Garcia sports a 30.7 percent strikeout rate after posting the same figure with Triple-A Sacramento in a 26-game stint in 2019 and a 45.7 percent figure over 18 games with the Giants last season.

Records two RBI Garcia went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored in Sunday's win over the Giants.
Impact Garcia was one of two players that recorded multiple knocks for the Athletics in this game and made his presence felt in both the sixth and seventh innings -- he delivered RBI singles both times, scoring Chad Pinder and Matt Chapman, respectively. The backstop is riding a four-game hitting streak, but his limited role and inconsistent playing time conspire against his upside.

Impact Garcia started for Sean Murphy and took Hunter Strickland deep in the seventh to extend Oakland's lead to 4-0. Despite the the big hit, it would most likely take an injury to Murphy for Garcia to move into a bigger role.
