Impact The Giants are simply managing the workload of DeSclafani, who threw only 33.2 innings in the shortened 2020 campaign. Assuming he misses just one start, the righty should return from the IL to start Aug. 13 at home against the Rockies.

Impact The righty labored Monday against an unimposing Arizona lineup in what was one of his worst starts this season. It's possible the division-leading Giants are just giving DeSclafani some extra rest before the last several weeks of the season. More details about his shoulder should become available in the next week or so.

Struggles again Monday DeSclafani allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits and a walk with five strikeouts in 4.1 innings, taking a no-decision versus Arizona on Monday.
Impact The right-hander has had a bit of trouble with the long ball lately, yielding eight homers in his last seven games after giving up the same number in his first 15 starts of the year. With this rough outing, DeSclafani saw his ERA tick up to 3.28 with a 1.07 WHIP and 118:33 K:BB through 126.1 innings. It's a little concerning to see him struggle so much versus the bottom-dwelling D-backs, but he'll try to get back on track in Milwaukee this weekend.

Impact DeSclafani started out well with three strikeouts over his first two frames but fell apart in the third. He allowed four hits on top of two walks to put the Giants in a 4-0 hole. He was replaced by Daniel Alvarez after his second walk but the damage had already been done. Both of his shortest outings this season at 2.2 innings have come against the Dodgers, as he's had his fair share of struggles against the 2020 world champions. Despite his rough outing, DeSclafani still owns a strong 3.10 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 113:32 K:BB over 122 innings. He's lined up for a favorable matchup against the Diamondbacks next week.
