Angels-Blue Jays rained out
Cobb won't make his scheduled start Sunday after the Angels-Blue Jays game was postponed due to inclement weather in Dunedin, Fla.
Impact
The two teams plan to make up the game as part of a split doubleheader Aug. 10 at Angel Stadium. According to Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times, the Angels plan to push all six of their rotation members back a day in the pitching schedule as a result of the rainout, so Cobb will start Monday's series opener in Kansas City.

Dealt with minor blister
Cobb, who is scheduled to start Sunday against the Blue Jays, was dealing with a blister earlier in the week, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Impact
At this point, Cobb is not in danger of missing Sunday's start, but it's worth noting since blisters can re-occur. Cobb was scheduled to start Saturday but was pushed back to give his blister an extra day to heal.

Starting Sunday
Cobb will start Sunday against the Blue Jays, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Cobb will take the spot of Shohei Ohtani (blister), who was scratched from the start. He'll look to follow up on a solid debut with club, when he allowed three earned runs and struck out seven across six innings.

Strikes out seven in no-decision
Cobb allowed three runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out seven over six innings in a no-decision against the White Sox on Saturday.
Impact
He could not slow down the hit machine that is Yermin Mercedes. However, Cobb limited the damage from the rest of the lineup and provided the Angels with some much-needed length after the bullpen covered six innings in relief of Andrew Heaney on Friday. The 33-year-old righty should still be considered a high-risk fantasy option next week in his projected matchup against the Blue Jays at TD Ballpark in Dunedin, Florida.

Sharp in start Wednesday
Cobb pitched three innings in Wednesday's Cactus League contest against Cleveland, allowing one run on two hits and one walk while striking out four.
Impact
According to Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com, Cobb's velocity hit 94 mph during the exhibition outing, a slight bump over his average velocity last season. That bodes well for the right-hander's attempt to bounce back after a trio of subpar campaigns. Cobb appears in line for the final spot in the Angels' six-man rotation, but his fantasy value is limited by an unexciting skillset that includes a lack of strikeouts.

Betting on mechanical changes
Cobb visited Driveline Baseball over the offseason and worked on some mechanical changes, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Impact
The Angels need the 33-year-old to be something other than he's been thus far in his 30s, as he's struggled to a 5.10 ERA over the last three seasons. Driveline has a deserved reputation for making pitchers suddenly more productive, though a trip there doesn't guarantee anyone's problems will be instantly solved. The report perhaps makes Cobb more interesting than most pitchers his age with his recent track record, but he'll have to demonstrate a new level of performance on the field before he becomes a truly compelling fantasy option.

On move to Halos
The Angels acquired Cobb in a trade with the Orioles on Monday, Dan Connolly and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic report.
Impact
The exact terms of the trade remain unknown, but Baltimore is unlikely to get a major prospect in return, assuming the Angels are covering a portion of the $15 million Cobb is owed in 2021. Over his three seasons in Baltimore, Cobb didn't emerge as the frontline starter the Orioles had hoped they were getting after inking him to a four-year, $57 million deal in the 2017-18 offseason. In addition to missing extended time due to injuries, Cobb wasn't particularly effective when he was healthy enough to pitch, submitting a 5.10 ERA (5.22 FIP), 1.42 WHIP and 6.1 K/9 in 41 starts for Baltimore. With his new organization, the 33-year-old right-hander won't be assured a rotation spot, as the Angels already have Dylan Bundy, Shohei Ohtani, Andrew Heaney, Griffin Canning and Jose Quintana on hand as starting candidates.

Cruises to second win
Cobb (2-5) picked up the win in Thursday's 13-1 rout of the Red Sox, allowing one run on six hits and two walks over seven innings, He struck out four.
Impact
The right-hander gave up his only run in the fifth inning, at which point the O's already held an 8-0 lead. Cobb finished the season on a high note, delivering quality starts in each of his final two outings, and with one year remaining on his current contract his 4.30 ERA and 38:18 K:BB through 52.1 innings should keep him in Baltimore's rotation plans to begin 2021.
