After a standout showing in the Cactus League this spring, Osuna has continued to excel between stops at Double-A Frisco and Round Rock this season, slashing a collective .279/.386/.416 with two home runs and nine stolen bases over his 184 plate appearances. While Osuna could be a candidate to serve as the primary replacement for Pederson as the team's top designated hitter against right-handed pitching, the Rangers may prefer to cycle a number of players at that spot and instead use the 22-year-old primarily in the outfield. Osuna has experience at all three outfield spots but has played only in center and left field thus far in 2025.

Set for promotion to MLB The Rangers are expected to promote Osuna to the majors this weekend, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Impact With Joc Pederson suffering a broken right hand in Saturday's loss to the White Sox, the Rangers have an opening on the MLB roster. The 22-year-old Osuna started the season at Double-A but was promoted to Triple-A Round Rock earlier in May. He's hit at both levels. In 38 combined games between the two, Osuna has slashed .280/.385/.413 with two home runs, 15 RBI, 29 runs scored and eight stolen bases. Osuna is considered one of Texas' top prospects and should get a look at regular playing time for a scuffling offense.

Impact The 22-year-old Osuna has increased his cachet as a prospect over the last few months. After turning heads in big-league spring training with a 1.237 OPS to go with two stolen bases during Cactus League play, the outfielder has continued to shine early on during the minor-league season. He was bumped up to a Triple-A after getting on base at a .356 clip while going 7-for-9 in steal attempts over 146 plate appearances with Frisco.

Impact He slashed .272/.339/.486 with nine home runs and 10 steals in 45 games in a return to High-A Hickory to start the season. Osuna has seen time in all three outfield spots this year, but he projects best in left field due to his average speed and fringe-average arm. His lack of defensive utility means Osuna will need to stand out at the plate in order to eventually crack the big-league lineup in a year or two.
