Lands on injured list Diaz (hand) was officially placed on the injured list Tuesday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact The move is an expected one, as manager Dusty Baker said Sunday that Diaz would miss 6-to-8 weeks with a broken hand, an injury he suffered after getting hit by a pitch Saturday against the Blue Jays. Michael Brantley (hamstring) was activated off the injured list in a corresponding move.

Out 6-8 weeks with hand fracture Diaz will be sidelined for approximately 6-8 weeks with a fracture in his left hand, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact Diaz left Saturday's game against Toronto after being hit by a pitch on the left hand in the fourth inning. Original reports indicated that he only suffered a contusion but it's now been revealed that he has a fracture. He'll be out of the fold through mid-July and possibly beyond. The Astros have yet to make an official roster move, but Diaz will certainly be placed on the injured list within the next 24 hours.
JUNE 6, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Not in lineup Sunday Diaz (hand) is not in the starting lineup Sunday against Toronto, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact Diaz left Saturday's game after being hit by a pitch in the fourth inning and was later diagnosed with a left hand contusion. With left-hander Steven Matz starting for the Blue Jays, it's fair to think Diaz would have found his way into the lineup if he was fully healthy, so it appears that the hand issue is bothering him to some extent. It's unclear if the utility man could be available off the bench in the series finale.

Garcia scheduled to start for Houston against Toronto

Diagnosed with contusion Diaz was diagnosed with a left hand contusion after leaving Saturday's game against the Blue Jays, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact Diaz was hit by a pitch in the top of the fourth inning and was immediately removed from the contest. He'll undergo X-rays after the game to help determine the extent of his injury.

Aledmys Díaz leaves Astros-Jays game after being hit by pitch He was hit by a 92-mph fastball on his left hand and immediately doubled over in pain.
JUNE 5, 2021 • HOUSTONCHRONICLE.COM
Exits after HBP Diaz left Saturday's game after getting hit by a pitch on his left hand, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.
Impact Chas McCormick entered the game to replace Diaz, who had gone 8-for-21 in his last five games. More news about Diaz' condition should become available after Saturday's game.
JUNE 5, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Stays hot Friday Diaz went 3-for-6 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 13-1 win over Toronto.
Impact The utilityman got aboard with a single and scored the opening run on Yordan Alvarez's RBI double in the fourth inning. In the seventh, Diaz added a solo shot, his third homer of the year. The 30-year-old is slashing .281/.339/.439 with 18 RBI and 14 runs scored across 124 plate appearances. He's 8-for-21 (.381) during his personal five-game hitting streak -- if he remains hot at the plate, his defensive versatility should help him stick in the lineup.
JUNE 5, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Covering multiple injuries Diaz started at first base and went 1-for-2 with a double, two RBI and a runs scored in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Padres.
Impact Diaz has been needed everywhere the last stretch of games due to injuries to lineup regulars. He's started the last four games: two at DH for Yordan Alvarez (wrist), once in left field for Michael Brantley (hamstring) and once at first base for Yuli Gurriel (finger). He's just 3-for-18 during that stretch but should get consistent at-bats in the short term given the number of injuries with which Houston is dealing.
MAY 31, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Filling in at DH Diaz went 1-for-5 with a walk in Saturday's 11-8 extra-innings loss to the Padres.
Impact Diaz made his second consecutive start as the designated hitter and third overall (one start in LF), as the Astros work around injuries to Yordan Alvarez (wrist) and Michael Brantley (hamstring).
MAY 30, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Homers in return to lineup Diaz went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Wednesday in a win over the Dodgers.
Impact Diaz missed three games with a tight left hamstring, but he returned to the lineup in fine fashion Wednesday, belting a two-run homer in the seventh inning. The long ball was only his second this season. Diaz has been a solid contributor overall, batting .276 and collecting 15 RBI in 94 plate appearances.
MAY 27, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Overcomes hamstring injury Diaz (hamstring) will start in left field and bat second Wednesday against the Dodgers, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact Diaz hadn't played in any of the Astros' last three games while dealing with a tight left hamstring, but he's apparently healthy enough to step into the lineup for Michael Brantley, who is nursing a leg injury. The Astros are off Thursday, and manager Dusty Baker has said that Brantley is unlikely to require a trip to the injured list, so Diaz doesn't look like he'll be in store for an extended run in a starting role.

García hits 2 more home runs, powers Rangers past Astros 8-4

Adolis García kept up his home run barrage, connecting twice and helping power the Texas Rangers past the Houston Astros 8-4
MAY 22, 2021 • Associated Press
Exits with tight hamstring Diaz left Friday's game against the Rangers with left hamstring tightness, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact If "tightness" is code for a strain, Diaz would likely require a stint on the 10-day injured list. He went 1-for-2 with an RBI double before exiting and was replaced by Carlos Correa.
MAY 22, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Starts for ailing Gurriel Diaz started at first base in place of Yuli Gurriel (illness) and went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Thursday's 4-3 extra-innings win over the Rangers.
Impact Gurriel was removed from Wednesday's game when he suddenly felt sick and got a full day off to recover. Diaz has been a jack of all trades in Houston's lineup, making his third appearance at first base Thursday.
MAY 14, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Fills in for resting Bregman Diaz started at third base and went 1-for-4 in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Angels.
Impact Diaz took over the hot corner for Alex Bregman, who was given the day off. His playing time dried up when a bunch of teammates returned to action after spending time in COVID-19 protocols. His start Tuesday was just the third in the last 10 games. For now, his value is tied to his versatility, having played all four infield positions and the two corner outfield slots.
