49ers vs. Rams Highlights: San Francisco Upsets Los Angeles
Updated: Sep 10, 2026 - 11:31 PM ET
The San Francisco 49ers opened their 2026 NFL season with a commanding 27-7 win over the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia, on Thursday even – or Friday morning local time.
The NFC West rivals usually put together a competitive showing against each other, but head coach Kyle Shanahan had his team ready from the start. Quarterback Brock Purdy looked in mid-season form, throwing for 205 yards with three touchdowns and an interception.
The offense appeared out of synch all day for quarterback Matthew Stafford and head coach Sean McVay, being held to just seven points. Stafford struggled, throwing for only 155 yards and an interception.
Here are the highlights from Thursday night’s game.
