Impact Matsuyama did not show many signs of a hangover after he let last week's WM Phoenix Open get away from him on the last couple holes. He began the week with three straight rounds of 67 before his 69 on Sunday. Matsuyama once again really struggled off the tee where he lost over 1.8 strokes to the field, which ranked 62nd, but he was ninth in SG: Around-the-Green and eighth in SG: Putting. It is good to see Matsuyama feel confident on the greens, but if he can't get it figured out with the driver it is going to be hard to close out golf tournaments. He will have some added confidence going into next week's Genesis Invitational as the defending winner from the last time it was held at Riviera in 2024.
