Drops to T13 at Charles Schwab Matsuyama carded a one-over 71 in the final round of the Charles Schwab Challenge to finish tied with Jordan Smith and Justin Thomas for 13th.

Impact Matsuyama was one of the frontrunners at Colonial Country Club after posting rounds of 66-65 over the first two days of the tournament. Despite an even-par 70 score Saturday, he was in the top-5 of the leaderboard heading into Sunday and in good position for his first win of the 2026 PGA Tour season. Those hopes were snuffed out after back-to-back bogeys on holes three and four, and he gained just one shot over the last 14 holes. Matsuyama ranked T4 in bogeys, sixth in both scrambling and SG: Approach and in the top-35 in GIR, birdies, SG: Off-the-Tee, Around-the-Green and Putting. He has seven top-25 finishes in 13 tournaments this season, though Matsuyama hasn't cracked the top-10 since his T8 at Pebble Beach. He'll tee off at the Memorial Tournament next week, which he won in his debut at the event in 2014 in a playoff over Kevin Na. Matsuyama has finished T16-T8-38 in his last three outings at the Signature Event since 2023.

Drops out of top-25 at Aronimink Matsuyama registered an even-par cumulative score at the PGA Championship to finish tied for 26th.

Impact Matsuyama posted a 70-67-71 scorecard over the first three days of the major. He was in the top-10 after going two-under through the first six holes of the final round but proceeded to drop four shots over the final 12 holes, logging six bogeys to just two birdies over that span. It was a disappointing way to end the tournament for Matsuyama, who finished T61 in driving accuracy, 67th in SG: Off-the-Tee and T75 in GIR. He has finished T53-71-T26 in his last three tournaments since his T12 at The Masters. Matsuyama is not in the field for THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson next week.

He'll look to turn things around this week at the PGA Championship, where he's made the cut in 12 of 13 appearances (though he missed the cut last year, which also took place at Quail Hollow).
