Runner-up at The Open Championship
Young fired a six-under 64 in the final round of The Open Championship to finish with a nine-under cumulative score and one stroke back of winner Ryan Fox.
Impact
Young was six-under heading into the weekend, but his aspirations of a first major victory looked to be dashed after a three-over 73 score Saturday, when he went four-over on the back nine. However, he raced out of the gate Sunday with three-straight birdies en route to a five-under front nine and was sitting at 10-under for the tournament heading into the final hole. Unfortunately for Young, his second shot out of the fairway bunker ricocheted off the front lip, and his green-side bunker shot barely missed the hole for par. He still entered the clubhouse atop the leaderboard at nine-under, but that late bogey proved to be the difference, with Fox sinking his birdie putt on the 18th to capture the Claret Jug. Still, to be in the mix down the stretch after a disappointing third round demonstrates the perseverance Young has shown all season. He led the field at Royal Birkdale with an 80.6 percent GIR and ranked third in SG: Off-the-Tee, 13th in SG: Approach and 16th in SG: Around. He now has two runner-ups at The Open and five top-5 finishes at majors, including a T3 at The Masters in April. Young will have at least one week off, as he's not listed in the field for next week's 3M Open.

Struggles continue at Travelers
Young finished in a four-way tie for 47th at the Travelers Championship after posting an eight-under cumulative score.
Impact
Young ended the tournament strongly with a seven-under 63 in the final round that included a five-under back nine, but it didn't hide the two over-par rounds he posted in each of the first two days of the tournament. He finished the event fourth in SG: Off-the-Tee and 12th in driving distance but struggled with his putter, losing 4.08 strokes on the green (65th out of 72 players). Young has finished outside the top-40 in each of his last three tournaments, including a T43 at the U.S. Open last week. He's not in the field for next week's John Deere Classic.

Disappointing T26 showing at PGA
Young shot an even-par 70 in the final round of the PGA Championship to finish in a share of 26th place.
Impact
Young was one of the favorites heading into the week as the No. 3 player in the OWGR coming off victories at THE PLAYERS Championship and the Cadillac Championship. After a strong finish to his second round, Young was just two shots back of the lead heading into the weekend. He failed to generate any momentum in the final two rounds, however, mostly due to issues with the short putts. Young was T6 in driving accuracy for the week, but only T72 in scrambling. He seemed to play a lot better than what he scored. Nevertheless, Young will look to rebound at the next major in his home state when the U.S. Open heads to Shinnecock next month.
