Impact Smith's best day came in the third round, when he posted a bogey-free, eight-under 64 to jump into the top-10 of the leaderboard heading into Championship Sunday. His performance in Adelaide -- along with top-10 finishes from Leishman and Lucas Herbert (T6) -- was enough for the all-Australian Ripper GC to win the team event by two strokes over Jon Rahm's Legion XIII. Smith led the field in both putts per hole and scrambling and finished T4 in birdies made, though he ranked near the bottom in GIR. He'll next tee it up March 5 at LIV Golf Hong Kong, where he finished T2 and T20 in 2024 and 2025, respectively.

His Rippers won the team event by three strokes over Torque GC, in large part due to newcomer Elvis Smylie, who won the individual event by two strokes over Jon Rahm. Smith and his All-Australian teammates will have the home crowd behind them next week at LIV Golf Adelaide, where he finished 30th in 2025.

Decision to make on PGA Tour return Smith is eligible to return to the PGA Tour under the new Returning Member Program announced on Monday by PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp.

Impact Smith is one of four players who meet the elite performance criteria of having won a major championship or THE PLAYERS Championship from 2022-25. Brooks Koepka is exercising his option to return to the PGA Tour after negotiating out of the final year of his LIV Golf contract last month. Smith will have to decide whether to take advantage of the opportunity by Feb. 2, which is the first week of the 2026 LIV Golf season. Rolapp indicated that this could potentially be a one-time offer. Smith would not be eligible to take advantage of the PGA Tour's new Player Equity Program for five years, but he would have recouped most of the losses when he signed his initial LIV Golf contract. Smith has fallen to 207th in the OWGR and missed the cut in all four majors last year. He is coming off a runner-up last month at the Australian Open, however.

Smith's struggles this season has to do with his inaccuracy off the tee, but he was much better at JCB Golf and Country Club, finishing T9 in the field with a 66.67 percent success rate while also ranking T8 in GIR (72.22 percent). It was a nice effort for the Ripper GC captain, particularly given his struggles in the majors this season, most recently missing the cut at The Open. Smith sits 16th in the individual season standings with 64.80 points heading into LIV Golf Chicago, where he finished 52nd in 2024.
