Wins team trophy at LIV Golf UK
Smith posted a 17-under cumulative score at LIV Golf United Kingdom to finish solo fourth.
Impact
Smith climbed up the leaderboard with an 11-under cumulative score between the second and third rounds. He didn't have his best stuff Sunday with a three-under 69, but it was still enough for him to secure back-to-back top-5 finishes and his best performance of the 2026 LIV Golf season. Smith's efforts at JCB Golf & Country Club, coupled with individual winner Lucas Herbert and Marc Leishman (T12) was enough for Smith's Ripper GC to win the team event by four strokes over Jon Rahm's Legion XIII, which was the All-Australian team's third victory of the season and first since Adelaide in February. The breakaway tour will resume Aug. 6 at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster for LIV Golf New York.

MC at The Open after late double bogey
Smith missed the cut by one stroke at The Open Championship after firing a one-under 69 in the second round.
Impact
Smith opened the tournament with a three-over 73, but he was on track to make the one-over cut line after going three-under on the front nine of the second round. However, the Australian carded a double bogey on the par-3 15th and was unable to gain back the stroke he needed over the final three holes of the day. Through two rounds, Smith ranked 133rd in SG: Off-the-Tee while connecting on only 39.3 percent of fairways, and he also lost 2.24 strokes around the green, an unexpected stat considering his proficiency in the short game. Smith has missed the cut in eight of his last nine major starts, with his T7 at this year's PGA Championship being the exception. The Ripper GC captain will return to the breakaway tour next week at LIV Golf United Kingdom, where he finished T2 in 2024 and solo 10th last year.

Falters at LIV Golf Korea
Smith posted a three-over 73 in the final round of LIV Golf Korea to finish in a four-way tie for 16th.
Impact
Smith was seven-under through the first three rounds and just two strokes back of the clubhouse leaders Talor Gooch and eventual winner Joaquin Niemann. Smith started his final round nicely with back-to-back birdies on holes three and four but proceeded to drop four strokes over the next seven holes, including a double bogey on the par-3 sixth. The Ripper GC captain finished in the top-20 in both scrambling and putts per hole but was middle-of-the-pack across most other statistical categories. Smith has just two top-10 finishes in LIV Golf this season, though he appeared to break through two weeks ago at the PGA Championship, when he finished T7 despite his issues off the tee. He's in the field for the U.S. Open Championship in three weeks time, but before that, he'll tee off at LIV Golf Andalucia next week, where he's finished 12-T6-T7 in each of his three prior outings dating back to 2023.

T7 at PGA despite OTT woes
Smith posted a two-under 68 in the final round of the PGA Championship to finish tied with Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele for seventh.
Impact
Smith found himself one stroke back of Alex Smalley after the former went three-under on the front nine in the final round. However, the 32-year-old Australian was unable to gain ground on the back nine, in large part due to his dreadful performance off the tee, as he connected on just three of 14 fairways on the day. His only bogey of the day was on the par-3 17th, a testament to Smith's strong iron play and proficiency around and on the green. For the tournament, Smith ranked fifth in SG: Approach and top-15 in both SG: Around-the-Green and Putting, but he lost three strokes off the tee (78th) and connected on just 41.1 percent of fairways (T77). Importantly for Smith, it ended his streak of missed cuts at majors at six, and it was his first top-5 finish at a major since the 2023 US Open (solo fourth). Smith will take part in two LIV Golf tournaments (Korea and Andalucia) before teeing off at the U.S. Open Championship at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club on June 18.
