British Open returns to Royal Birkdale and PGA Tour holds tournament in Dominican Republic

The 154th edition of the British Open dominates the golf landscape this week
JULY 14 • Associated Press
Misses the cut in Scotland Campbell posted a 72-74 scorecard at the Genesis Scottish Open to miss the cut by eight strokes.
Impact Campbell was able to card six birdies over his 36 holes, but that was outdone by his 10 bogeys and one double bogey. He lost strokes in all major categories but particularly struggled on the green, where he lost 3.73 strokes with his putter. The 2026 season has been a tough one for Campbell, who's made the cut in only eight of 20 tournaments with only one top-25 finish (T24 at The Masters). The top golfers in the world will be at Royal Birkdale next week for The Open Championship, so Campbell will compete against a softer field next week at the Corales Puntacana Championship.

MC at John Deere defense Campbell missed the cut by three strokes at the John Deere Classic after posting scores of 70-72.
Impact Campbell entered the week as the defending champion after his playoff victory over Emiliano Grillo. Campbell went one-under in the first round but went two-over on the front nine of the second round, which he was unable to overcome on the back. Most of Friday's struggles came with his irons, with Campbell losing 2.29 strokes in his approach play while connecting on only eight of 18 greens in regulation. He's missed the cut 11 times in 19 tournaments this season, including in four of his last five outings. Campbell is listed in the field for the Genesis Scottish Open, where he missed the cut in his event debut in 2025.

SG: OTT struggles at Travelers Campbell finished tied for 47th at the Travelers Championship after recording an eight-under cumulative score.
Impact Campbell was nine-under through the first two days of the tournament in large part to his bogey-free, seven-under 63 on Friday, when he went six-under on the front nine. However, any chance of a top-10 finish were diminished by a two-over 72 score Saturday. Most of Campbell's struggles at TPC River Highlands came off the tee, as he lost 3.27 strokes in that category and ranked 68th out of 72 players in the field. That'll be an area of his game that he'll need to improve ahead of his defense of the John Deere Classic next week.

Barely misses cut at Memorial Campbell posted a six-over cumulative score at the Memorial Tournament to miss the cut by one stroke.
Impact Campbell opened the tournament with a four-over 76 in the first round, but making the weekend was feasible after the cut line was set at five-over. He was even-par through 16 holes in the second round, but he proceeded to card back-to-back bogeys on holes 17 and 18, knocking him out of contention at Muirfield. Most of Campbell's struggles came from his irons, as he lost 2.52 strokes in his approach play. He's in the field for the RBC Canadian Open next week, where he missed the cut in his lone appearance in 2017.
JUNE 6 • ROTOWIRE
Struggles with putter at Colonial Campbell missed the cut by four strokes at the Charles Schwab Challenge following a two-over 72 in the second round.
Impact Campbell did well to finish his first round with an even-par 70 score, given that he posted a triple bogey on the par-4 seventh. He ran into similar issues Friday with three bogeys on the front nine, only to counteract that with three-straight birdies from holes one to three on the back, though he failed to gain the two additional strokes necessary to make it to the weekend at Colonial Golf Club. Campbell did well enough off the tee, connecting on 21 of 28 fairways, though he lost 4.01 strokes with his putter across his two rounds. It's the eighth missed cut in 15 tournaments, though it was his first MC since the Texas Children's Houston Open in late March. Campbell will tee off next week at the Memorial Tournament, where he withdrew in his debut at the event in 2025 due to a shoulder injury.

T49 at Cadillac Championship Campbell closed with a two-under 70 on Sunday at the Cadillac Championship to finish three-under and tied for 49th.
Impact Campbell ranked just 65th of 72 in SG: Off-the-Tee at Doral despite finishing T7 in fairways in regulation, but he gained 2.24 strokes on approach and another 1.93 strokes with the putter throughout his week in Miami. Campbell remains without a single top-20 result through his first 12 starts of the 2026 season, but he'll be in attendance again this week for the Truist Championship at Quail Hollow Club, where he tied for 55th at last year's PGA Championship.

Poor second round at Memorial Park Campbell missed the cut at the Texas Children's Houston Open after posting a five-over cumulative score.
Impact Campbell opened with a one-under 69 score in the first round, but any aspirations of making the weekend at Memorial Park collapsed Friday, when he posted a six-over 76 that included two birdies, five bogeys and a triple bogey. Campbell has missed the cut in four-straight tournaments and seven times in nine events (including a withdraw from the Valspar Championship). In his two non-cut outings, he finished T54 at the WM Phoenix Open and T78 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. It's been a rough start to the 2026 season for Campbell, but all of that can be forgotten with a strong performance at The Masters in two weeks, where he finished T32 in his debut appearance at Augusta National in 2025.

Misses cut at Riviera Campbell missed the cut at The Genesis Invitational after posting a two-over cumulative score.
Impact Campbell opened the tournament with a one-under 70 first round, and he was on pace to make it to the weekend. He needed to finish the second round with a score of 72 or better, but things quickly turned after carding bogeys on holes 12 and 14, and he finished the day with a double bogey on the par-4 18th. It's been a disappointing start to the 2026 Tour season for Campbell, who finished MC-MC-T54-T78 in his four tournaments prior to The Genesis. He'll look for better results at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in two weeks, though he missed the cut in his lone appearance at the signature event in 2025.

Last in SG: T2G at AT&T Pro-Am Campbell carded an eight-over 80 on Sunday at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am to finish nine-over and tied for 78th.
Impact Campbell recorded two rounds of 78 or worse throughout his week at the season's first Signature Event, ultimately ranking dead last among the field in SG: Tee-to-Green en route to just 40 total GIR across 72 holes. He's lost over a full stroke off the tee in each of his first four starts this year, but Campbell will be in attendance again this week at Riviera Country Club for his Genesis Invitational debut.
FEBRUARY 17 • ROTOWIRE
Making WMPO debut Campbell (undisclosed) is listed in the field for this week's WM Phoenix Open.
Impact Campbell withdrew prior to last week's Farmers Insurance Open after missing back-to-back cuts at the Sony Open and The American Express, but he's slated to return this week at TPC Scottsdale for his WM Phoenix Open debut.
FEBRUARY 2 • ROTOWIRE
Out of Farmers Insurance Open Campbell (undisclosed) has withdrawn from the Farmers Insurance Open, Rob Bolton of PGATour.com reports.
Impact It's unclear why Campbell has decided to pull out of the tournament, but he will likely try to return to action as quickly as possible. He will be replaced in the field by Matt Kuchar.

T20 at Baycurrent Classic Campbell carded a five-under 66 on Sunday at the Baycurrent Classic to finish eight-under and tied for 20th.
Impact Campbell gained over 3.2 strokes with the flat stick en route to six birdies during Sunday's final round in Japan, where he ultimately ranked No. 1 among the field in putts per GIR and 14th in SG: Putting for the tournament. The T20 result is Campbell's first top-25 since his victory at the John Deere Classic in early July.
