Modest outing again Week 2 Van Dyke completed 17 of 27 passes for 214 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 27-13 victory versus South Dakota. He also had six rushes for negative four yards.

Impact Van Dyke looked slightly more consistent during his second game with the Badgers, as he did a better job avoiding turnover-worthy plays. However, unliked the season opener, he did not have to press as much in this game since Wisconsin never trailed versus the Coyotes. However, he still didn't record many explosive passes outside of his 50-yard touchdown pass to a wide-open C.J. Williams on an RPO. Van Dyke has now totaled just two touchdowns to one turnerover while completing 60.3 percent of his passes against Western Michigan and South Dakota. With an offense that has severely lacked explosiveness this season, Van Dyke and the Badgers figure to struggle when No. 4-ranked Alabama visits Camp Randall this coming Saturday.

Uneven in Wisconsin debut Van Dyke was 21-for-36 passing for 192 yards during Friday's 28-14 win over Western Michigan. He also had eight rushes for 21 yards with one touchdown.

Impact Van Dyke didn't have any notable highlights during his first game with the Badgers. The Miami transfer's only explosive completion came on a 17-yard gain to standout wide receiver Will Pauling, who picked up most of the yards after the catch. The Badgers' passing game also didn't consist of much aside from quick passes to the outside and a few intermediate passes over the middle. Van Dyke looked a little crisper when the Badgers made their comeback in the fourth quarter, including his scrambled for a six-yard rushing touchdown to go up 28-14. Yet, his rushing threat on read options likely won't be enough to buoy his fantasy production if the passing game doesn't pick up significantly moving forward. He'll look to establish some more credibility in this new offense versus South Dakota in Week 2.

Impact This decision doesn't as too much of a surprise considering Van Dyke took all of Wisconsin's first-team reps in this past Sunday's scrimmage. The 6-foot-4 senior finished out the 2023 season with 2,703 passing yards with 19 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, now starting under center for a Badger team who have had instability at the quarterback position in the recent years.

Impact Instead of splitting snaps with Braedyn Locke like in July, Van Dyke handled all of Wisconsin's first-team reps, indicating he will be the 2024 Badgers' primary quarterback to begin their season. The ex-Miami QB eventually rising up is not too surprising, considering how spring and fall played out. Van Dyke is also a proven option, having been Miami's primary quarterback from 2021 to 2023. Across the span, he completed 63.8 percent of 910 passes for 7,469 yards and a 54:23 TD:INT ratio.
