DeSean Bishop - Huge day despite bowl loss Bishop had 19 carries for 93 yards and two touchdowns and gathered in all three targets for eight yards during Tuesday's 30-28 loss to Illinois in the Music City Bowl.
Impact Despite the Vols feeling the blues in Nashville and falling in a close one, Bishop did his part with a sizable effort in the contest, falling just shy of the century mark on the ground. The showing did help him surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season, amassing 182 carries for 1,076 yards and 16 touchdowns in addition to his 15 catches for 135 yards as a receiver. The former walk-on running back has certainly solidified his place atop Tennessee's depth chart headinginto 2026, and the Knoxville native should have another big campaign in store.

Braylon Staley - Low production in close bowl loss Staley reeled in 4 of 6 targets for 31 yards during Tuesday's 30-28 loss versus Illinois.
Impact Staley has seen his output decrease in the recent weeks of the Volunteers' season, and he wasn't a big factor once again in the team's close loss to the Illini. The redshirt freshman still finished the campaign with the second-highest receiving yardage for the team, logging 68 grabs for 837 yards and six touchdowns. He'll now have three years of eligibility remaining ahead of his redshirt sophomore season.

Mike Matthews - Logs three catches in bowl loss Matthews reeled in all three targets for 43 yards during Tuesday's 30-28 defeat to Illinois.
Impact Matthews logged just three catches in the Volunteers' close loss to the Illini, but the sophomore wideout still accounted for a good amount of the team's passing yardage. The 6-foot-1 pass catcher will now close out his second collegiate season with career-high numbers in all receiving categories, logging 53 receptions for 813 yards and four touchdowns.

Star Thomas - Solid output despite loss Thomas compiled nine rushes for 67 yards and gathered in their only target for 18 yards during Tuesday's 30-28 loss against Illinois.
Impact Thomas didn't stuff the stat sheet, but he still totaled 85 yards on 10 touches, his biggest yardage output since the opener. The senior tailback was a rotational ball-carrier in Knoxville this season, amassing 596 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground while catching 11 passes for 116 yards and two scores. After yet another productive season, Thomas should have earned himself some looks at the next level.

Joey Aguilar - Undergoes surgery Aguilar underwent surgery on Friday to remove a benign tumor pushing up on his biceps tendon and labrum, Ian Rapaport of NFL.com reports.
Impact Even though Aguilar's problem causes arm pain and weakness, he held both in throughout the 2025 season. But now that it is finished, the quarterback can focus on recovery, which will take about eight weeks. Aguilar's focus shifts to spring practice wherever he ends up.
