Walker Eget - Questionable for Week 8 Eget (undisclosed) is questionable for Friday's game at Utah State.
Impact Eget is a surprise addition to the Mountain West Conference's updated availability report. Against the MW teams, Eget has been unparalleled. Considering the quarterback's recent run, San Jose State's last three games including his 10 touchdowns and zero interceptions, Friday would be a bad time to have the positive momentum dented with an undisclosed problem.

Kyri Shoels - Four grabs in loss Shoels hauled in 4 of 7 targets for 24 yards during Saturday's 35-28 defeat against Wyoming.
Impact While Shoels saw at least seven targets for a third straight game, he was limited to just 24 yards after totaling 228 yards on 17 grabs in his previous two contests. Overall, the redshirt junior has brought in 34 of 43 targets for 374 yards and two touchdowns in six games this season.

Steve Chavez-Soto - Held in check vs. Wyoming Chavez-Soto posted 12 carries for 25 yards during Saturday's 35-28 loss against Wyoming.
Impact Chavez-Soto wound up out-carrying Lamar Radcliffe 12-to-7 on Saturday, though he wasn't able to find much room to run after rushing for 71 yards and two scores last week against New Mexico. Still, it was encouraging to see Chavez-Soto lead the Spartans in carries in just his second collegiate game. The freshman should continue to see steady volume with Jabari Bates (undisclosed) out for the year and Floyd Chalk entering the transfer portal.

Walker Eget - Throws four touchdowns in loss Eget was 23-for-37 passing for 295 yards and four touchdowns during Saturday's 35-28 defeat to Wyoming.
Impact While San Jose State would ultimately come up short Saturday, Eget's thrown at least three touchdowns with no interceptions in three straight contests. Through six games, the senior's completed 61.9 percent of his pass attempts for 1,820 yards, 13 touchdowns and just three interceptions. Eget and Spartans will travel to take on Utah State next week.

Danny Scudero - Massive day in loss Scudero reeled in 10 of 24 targets for 180 yards and four touchdowns during Saturday's 35-28 loss versus Wyoming.
Impact Saturday's performance was an exclamation point on what has been a spectacular start to the year for Scudero. The sophomore was targeted on 24 of Walker Eget's 37 pass attempts, topping 130 yards for the fifth time in six games this season while setting a new program record with four touchdowns. Scudero leads the nation with 845 receiving yards on 50 receptions this year. He's added eight touchdowns, seven of which have come in his last three contests.

Floyd Chalk IV - Will redshirt and transfer Chalk (undisclosed) will redshirt San Jose State's 2025 season and transfer elsewhere for 2026, Nick Urias of 90.5FM KSJS reports.
Impact For 2025, Chalk has played the maximum number of games one can log before losing his redshirt. In the four games, he recorded 35 carries for 141 yards and two touchdowns. While impressive, they indicate that Chalk was not always San Jose State's top option at running back, and the room for improvement is looking like what he seeks to cap off his collegiate career. By redshirting and entering the NCAA's transfer portal, Chalk maintains his senior year of collegiate eligibility that an enticing team can use.

Mathias Brown - Earns starting role Brown went 5-for-5 on extra points during Saturday's 35-28 win over New Mexico.
Impact Brown replaces Denis Lynch as the Spartans' starting kicker after Lynch went 4-for-10 on field goals to start the season. While Brown didn't attempt a field goal in his first start of the campaign, he was perfect on extra points. Behind a high-scoring offense, Brown should have plenty of chances to score points.
OCTOBER 5 • ROTOWIRE
Denis Lynch - Loses starting job Lynch is no longer the starting kicker, Sean Reider of the Albuquerque Journal reports.
Impact Lynch made four of 10 field goal attempts through SJSU's first four contests, and the team has responded by putting Mathias Brown at the kicking position. Lynch missed two field goals of 20-29 yards in Week 5.

Kyri Shoels - Continues to produce Shoels hauled in all seven targets for 81 yards during Friday's 35-28 win versus New Mexico.
Impact Shoels has continued to see substantial volume in the Spartans' offense, even with the return of Matthew Coleman. Shoels, a redshirt junior, has 17 receptions on 19 targets for 228 yards and a score in his last two games.
OCTOBER 4 • ROTOWIRE
Leland Smith - Grabs second touchdown Smith reeled in 6 of 7 targets for 61 yards and a touchdown during Friday's 35-28 victory over New Mexico.
Impact Smith capped the scoring for the Spartans in Friday's win, hauling in an eight-yard touchdown in the third quarter, his second of the year. Smith's seen his role increase in SJSU's offense recently, totaling 12 receptions on 17 targets for 162 yards in his last two games.
OCTOBER 4 • ROTOWIRE
Danny Scudero - Keeps rolling Scudero hauled in 7 of 10 targets for 151 yards and one touchdown during Friday's 35-28 win against New Mexico.
Impact Scudero extended SJSU's lead to 21-7 in the second quarter with a 70-yard touchdown grab, his fourth score of the season and third in his last two games. Scudero has at least 130 yards in each of his previous three contests. He's up to 40 receptions for 671 yards in five games this year.
OCTOBER 4 • ROTOWIRE
Steve Chavez-Soto - Two scores in win Chavez-Soto tallied 14 rushes for 71 yards and two touchdowns during Friday's 35-28 victory versus New Mexico.
Impact Chavez-Soto, a true freshman, impressed in his collegiate debut, leading the Spartans in rushing yards while punching in a pair of scores. With Jabari Bates (undisclosed) out for the season and Floyd Chalk's (undisclosed) status uncertain, Chavez-Soto could see some more run going forward.
OCTOBER 4 • ROTOWIRE
Walker Eget - Impresses vs. New Mexico Eget was 26-for-30 passing for 334 yards and three touchdowns during Friday's 35-28 victory against New Mexico.
Impact It was another impressive effort from Eget, who completed 86.7 percent of his passes in the win. In his last two games, Eget's thrown for 807 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions. Overall, the senior's completed 61.9 percent of his passes for 1,525 yards, nine touchdowns and three interceptions through five games this season.
