Out for season Cardenas (knee) will miss the remainder of the 2024-25 season as the result of a knee injury, Pete Thamel of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Cardenas' collegiate career is likely over with the redshirt senior out of eligibility barring some unforeseen circumstances. The 6-foot-4 tight end has amassed 92 receptions for 1,092 yards and nine touchdowns across four seasons with the Roadrunners. In Cardenas' absence, Dan Dishman and Patrick Overmyer should see additional work behind Houston Thomas.

Scores in Saturday's win Cardenas hauled in all two targets for 38 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 28-16 victory over Kennesaw State.
Impact Cardenas opened up the second with a touchdown reception, a three-yard catch late in the fourth quarter to take a two-score lead. He caught exactly two touchdowns in each of the last three seasons for the Roadrunners and with one so early in the season, he is in a great position to exceed that mark as a fifth-year senior.

Scores touchdown in loss Cardenas gathered in all four targets for 21 yards and one touchdown during Friday's 29-16 loss versus Tulane. He also threw an interception on one pass attempt.
Impact Cardenas caught Frank Harris' lone touchdown pass of the game, a nine-yard reception late in the fourth quarter. He also threw an interception on a trick play late in the second quarter, a turnover which allowed Tulane to kick a field goal before the break and take a 23-10 lead.

Scores first TD of season Cardenas logged four receptions (on six targets) for 21 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 41-27 victory against East Carolina.
Impact Cardenas scored his first touchdown of the season Saturday, a seven-yard reception in the second quarter to take the 31-17 lead. He has been decent over the past five games, posting three games with six targets and four or more catches and totaling 140 yards. While the production is not crazy, consistent producers at the position are hard to find in the AAC.
