Justin Joly - Sees targets dip in win Joly posted two receptions (on three targets) for 48 yards during Saturday's 30-20 win over Louisiana Tech.
Impact Joly had amassed six targets in each of the Wolfpack's first two games of the season. He saw just three in the win over LA Tech, but still managed to produce 48 yards, beating his total from a week ago. The tight end remains a staple of this offense, but don't count on big production from him every week. It is worth noting that CJ Bailey starting at quarterback could've had something to do with his lower target share in Week 3.

Kendrick Raphael - Tallies 63 yards Raphael had nine rushes for 63 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 30-20 victory over Louisiana Tech.
Impact Raphael led the way for the Wolfpack on the ground with 63 rushing yards. It wasn't a particularly explosive day for the North Carolina State offense, but the RB2 was easily the most productive runner despite getting out-carried by starter Jordan Waters. His carries have increased every week this season, and if he can continue to make the most of them - finding the end zone also helps - he could turn this into a committee backfield.

Grayson McCall - Plays off bench despite injury McCall (undisclosed) was 9-for-13 passing for 54 yards during Saturday's 30-20 win against Louisiana Tech. He also had four rushes for 22 yards.
Impact McCall came in off the bench for North Carolina State and offered 54 yards through the air. Though CJ Bailey was the starter, he didn't perform all that well and McCall was utilized as well. He was clearly healthy enough to see the field, and given Bailey's underwhelming performance against a lesser team, the Wolfpack should aim to return McCall to his starting role as soon as possible.

CJ Bailey - Leads way at QB Bailey completed 13 of 20 passes for 156 yards and one interception during Saturday's 30-20 win over Louisiana Tech. He also had four rushes for 27 yards with one touchdown.
Impact Bailey played with Grayson McCall not healthy enough to start the game. McCall wound up playing off the bench, but Bailey trotted out as the starter. He had an up-and-down performance in his first real action of the season, failing to score while turning the ball over. As soon as McCall is healthy enough to assume full-time starter duties, Bailey should return to the bench.

Impact Bailey is a 6-foot-6, 210-pound quarterback whose freshman season began during September. Grayson McCall (undisclosed) not being 100 percent before Saturday has resulted in North Carolina State's football team naming his undergraduate teammate as the starting QB for then. Bailey has 156 passing yards and one rushing touchdown across 2024.

Impact North Carolina State's football program will monitor McCall daily to get updates about his injury. Fortunately for the program, it got "good news" on McCall, though that news may not be enough for him to be 100 percent before the Wolfpack are at Clemson on Saturday. If he is out then, CJ Bailey will be their starting quarterback until further notice.

Impact Joly has now seen six targets in each of NC State's first two games. That's a good sign that the tight end will be a fixture of this passing attack for the foreseeable future. He only managed to turn that into 30 yards in the midsts of a blowout loss to Tennessee, but still, Joly remains a staple of the Wolfpack's arial attack early in the season.

Kevin Concepcion - Most productive wideout in blowout Concepcion caught 5 of 7 targets for 53 yards during Saturday's 51-10 loss to Tennessee.
Impact Conception remains the Wolfpack's top receiving threat, but that meat very little in the midst of a 41-point blowout at the hands of the Volunteers. NC State's offense was completely shut down for the majority of the contest, and that was reflected its stats across the board. The superstar receiver Conception was no exception. His five catches for 53 yards wasn't a terrible output, but it was a far cry from the nine for 121 yards and a score he posted in the opener. His targets also dipped significantly from Week.1 to Week 1, but again, much of that can be attributed to the blowout. He'll remain the top player at the position for the Wolfpack.

Hollywood Smothers - Limited in blowout defeat Smothers totaled six carries for 25 yards and gathered in all three targets for one yard during Saturday's 51-10 loss against Tennessee.
Impact Smothers, and the rest of the Wolfpack's backfield, couldn't get going on the ground in Saturday's blowout loss to Tennessee. The tailback actually managed to double his carries from the opener, but that still only amounted to 25 yards on the ground. Notably, Smothers also reeled in three catches, but only parlayed that into a single yard. If he becomes a staple of the passing game, Smothers could find some value, but he's a rather forgotten part of this NC State offense at the moment.

Grayson McCall - Ineffective in loss McCall was 15-for-22 passing for 104 yards and one interception during Saturday's 51-10 loss against Tennessee. He also had nine rushes for six yards.
Impact McCall was unable to find any kind of rhythm against Tennessee, much like the rest of the Wolfpack offense. After tossing for three touchdowns in the opener against FCS Western Carolina, the quarterback once again completed a good percentage of his passes (68.2) but threw another interceptions and couldn't orchestrate a touchdown through the air or ground. He'll look to bounce back in NC State's penultimate out-of-conference game against Louisiana Tech.
