Impact Hughes will head to Eugene after two standout seasons with Tulane. Across two seasons with the Green Wave, Hughes tallied 523 carries for 2,779 yards and 30 touchdowns on the ground and 30 receptions for 243 yards and two touchdowns through the air.

Enters transfer portal Hughes has entered the transfer portal, Pete Nakos of On3 reports.

Impact Hughes enters the transfer portal as one of its most promising running backs. This is after back-to-back seasons in which he logged four-digit rushing yards, the latter campaign also including double-digit touchdowns to his name for Tulane.

Somewhat better with 66 yards Hughes compiled 14 carries for 66 yards and gathered in all three targets for 22 yards during Friday's 35-14 loss versus Army.

Impact From Sept. 21 to Nov. 16, Hughes logged 180 carries for 1,033 yards and 13 touchdowns in eight games. The ninth game saw his momentum come crashing down with nine rushes for less than two yards per attempt. Hughes significantly improved his statistical output Friday.

DECEMBER 11, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Shut down Thursday Hughes compiled nine carries for 15 yards and caught 2 of 4 targets for 26 yards during Thursday's 34-24 loss versus Memphis.

Impact Hughes had been the engine of the Green Wave's offense all season but was completely shut down in Thursday's loss. He gained just 15 yards on the ground on nine carries, both of which were by far his season lows. He added 26 yards in the passing game, but it was still far and away his worst performance of the season. He will look to bounce back versus Army in the AAC Championship Game on Dec. 6.

Continues dominant run vs Navy Hughes compiled 22 rushes for 82 yards and two touchdowns and gathered in their only target for three yards during Saturday's 35-0 victory versus Navy.

Impact Hughes was not particularly efficient Saturday and he failed to reach 100 yards for the first time since Week 5. He made up for it with a pair of touchdowns though, bringing him up to a whooping 17 on the season. The win secured Tulane's spot in the AAC Championship Game, but Hughes has one more regular season game before that as he takes on Memphis on Thanksgiving.

NOVEMBER 17, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Dominant once again Hughes accrued 19 rushes for 153 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 52-6 victory against Temple.

Impact To no one's surprise, Hughes was dominant in Saturday's blowout win over Temple. He rushed for over 150 yards for the third time this season and scored a pair of rushing touchdowns, his fifth multi-touchdown outing in his last six games. He now ranks fourth in the nation with 1,209 rushing yards and is tied for 10th (tied for eighth among running backs) with 13 touchdowns. He faces a difficult and important matchup at Navy next.

NOVEMBER 10, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Scores twice versus Charlotte Hughes tallied 27 carries for 117 yards and two touchdowns and reeled in all two targets for 15 yards during Thursday's 34-3 victory against Charlotte.

Impact Hughes scored a pair of one-yard rushing touchdowns Thursday, the fourth time in his last five games he has found the end zone twice. He also ran for over 100 yards for the sixth time this season and now sits at 1,056 rushing yards through nine games which currently ranks third in the country. He faces yet another favorable matchup next Saturday versus Temple.

Dominates in win over UNT Hughes had 30 carries for 195 yards and one touchdown and caught their only target for eight yards during Saturday's 45-37 win against North Texas.

Impact Hughes was excellent in Saturday's win as he set season highs with 30 carries and 195 yards and scored his 10th touchdown of the season, eight of which have come in his last five games. Hughes once again proved to be the focal point of the Green Wave's offense and there is no sign of that changing any time soon. He faces another favorable matchup at Charlotte next Saturday.

OCTOBER 27, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Excellent in win over Rice Hughes accrued 27 carries for 140 yards and one touchdown and reeled in 1 of 2 targets for 29 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 24-10 victory versus Rice.

Impact Hughes once again led the Green Wave to a win Saturday as he scored two touchdowns in his third straight game. He has scored at least one touchdown in every game this season. He also ran the ball a season-high 27 times and went for over 100 yards for the fourth time this season. His next three matchups are very favorable for running backs and he will likely continue to see a heavy workload, especially with the passing game struggling.

OCTOBER 21, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Dominant once again Hughes totaled 15 rushes for 119 yards and two touchdowns and gathered in their only target for 15 yards during Saturday's 71-20 victory versus UAB.

Impact To no one's surprise, Hughes put together an excellent performance in Saturday's blowout win, despite being taken out early in the third quarter. He logged his third 100-yard performance of the season and scored a pair of touchdowns, bringing him up to eight total (one receiving) on the season. Given how well the Green Wave are playing right now, in addition to how well Hughes produced in conference play last season, Hughes is likely in for a big second half of the season.

Makhi Hughes ran for 119 yards with two scores, Tulane added touchdowns on a kick return and an interception return, and the Green Wave swamped UAB 71-20

OCTOBER 5, 2024 • Associated Press

Scores twice in Saturday's win Hughes logged 17 rushes for 61 yards and two touchdowns and reeled in 1 of 2 targets for eight yards during Saturday's 45-10 win against South Florida.

Impact Hughes had his least efficient game of the season Saturday as he rushed for just 3.6 yards per carry, however he made up for it with a pair of rushing touchdowns, his first multi-touchdown game of the season. He has scored a touchdown in every game this season and currently ranks sixth nationally in rushing attempts and 18th in rushing yards. He should be able to add significant numbers onto those totals at UAB on Saturday.

SEPTEMBER 30, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Best game yet Saturday Hughes accrued 23 rushes for 166 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 41-33 win over Louisiana.

Impact Hughes set season highs in rushing attempts and yards Saturday and scored a touchdown in his fourth consecutive game. The Green Wave relied on him heavily throughout the game and he delivered once again. Among running backs, he currently ranks 14th in the country in rushing yards and fourth in rushing attempts, making him one of the most valuable fantasy assets in the nation.

Another productive outing Saturday Hughes posted 19 carries for 71 yards and hauled in 2 of 3 targets for 13 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 34-19 loss versus Oklahoma.

Impact Hughes was once again the Green Wave's most productive player Saturday as he gained 84 yards and scored his third touchdown of the season, an eight-yard reception in the third quarter. The fact that he had 71 rushing yards on 19 carries in a negative game script and against a tough defense is very promising for his future, especially considering his toughest two games on paper are in his rearview mirror.
