Chris Smith - Out Wednesday Smith (lower body) will be inactive for Wednesday's game against Marshall, Cody Junot of ESPN 1420 Lafayette reports.

Impact Smith will be unavailable for Wednesday's contest with Marshall as he works his way back from a lower body injury. The junior running back has logged 47 carries for 265 yards and two touchdowns across five games this season. Terrence Williams figures to lead the backfield for the Ragin' Cajuns in his absence.

Chandler Fields - Out against Marshall Fields (undisclosed) will not play Wednesday against Marshall, Jamarcus Fitzpatrick of KATC TV reports.

Impact Been Wooldridge will take over as the starter for the Cajuns on Wednesday with Fields sidelined. Fields had thrown seven touchdowns in five games but will be unavailable due to an undisclosed issue. His next chance to return comes Oct. 22 against Arkansas State.

Impact Chandler Fields is sidelined for Wednesday's game so it will be Wooldridge taking over for Louisiana. Wooldridge is completing 65 percent of his passes at 5.9 YPA with three touchdowns and a pick. He has been effective as a runner of late with 12 carries for 66 yards in his last two outings.

Ben Wooldridge - Sees increased playing time Wooldridge completed 18 of 29 passes for 90 yards with a touchdown and a pick against South Alabama and added 37 rushing yards.

Impact Chandler Fields opened the season as the starter but Wooldridge threw more passes in Louisiana's last game. Both have played in each game, so the quarterback carousel could continue into Wednesday's game against Marshall.

Michael Jefferson - Leading Louisiana receiving corps Jefferson has 20 catches for 280 yards and two touchdowns on 39 targets.

Impact Jefferson is drawing a 23 percent target share that leads the team. His catch rate is barely above 50 percent but the volume is helping fuel his production. No other Louisiana receiver has more than one receiving touchdown. Jefferson and the Ragin' Cajuns travel to Marshall on Wednesday.

Terrence Williams - Seeing solid share of workload Williams has 35 carries for 119 yards through five games.

Impact Chris Smith is the lead back for the Ragin' Cajuns but Williams is seeing a decent chunk of the rushing work as well, trailing Smith by 11 carries. Williams is averaging just 3.4 YPC however. He will have a tough task in solving the Marshall defense Wednesday night.

Chris Smith - Strong start to 2022 Smith has 46 carries for 262 yards and two touchdowns through five games while adding 15 catches for 107 yards on 21 targets.

Impact Louisiana has kept the deep backfield rotation despite Billy Napier's departure as Smith is one of three running backs with 20 or more carries thus far. Smith has been the most effective both as a rusher and as a pass-catcher, though as no other Ragin' Cajun back has more than three targets or a YPC mark above 5.1. Louisiana gets a tough road test Wednesday against Marshall.

Chandler Fields - Effective as starter Fields has completed 54 of 96 attempts for 608 yards with seven touchdowns and three interceptions through five games while adding one score on the ground.

Impact Louisiana is throwing the ball more than it's running it but the slow tempo is dragging down Fields' attempts per game. Fields himself averages 6.3 yards per attempt but the seven touchdowns in fewer than 100 passes is an impressive rate. He will face a tough Marshall defense Wednesday that allows just 16 points per game.
