Chase Jenkins - Competing for starting QB gig
Jenkins is competing for Kansas' starting quarterback job alongside Cole Ballard and Isaiah Marshall, per 247Sports.com.
Impact
Jenkins is considered to be holding up the rear of this competition behind the two Kansas returnees. The Rice transfer was limited this spring with an injury, which certainly didn't help him make up any ground. Last fall with the Owls, he tossed for 1,025 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions while rushing for 531 yards and five scores.

Isaiah Marshall - Battling for starting quarterback
Marshall is battling Cole Ballard and Chase Jenkins to be Kansas' starting quarterback, Michael Swain of 247Sports.com reports.
Impact
Jalon Daniels can no longer be Kansas' starting quarterback because his collegiate eligibility is maximized, so Marshall is competing with two others for the QB1 honor. While he lacks experience compared to Ballard and Jenkins, Marshall may possess better potential as a dual-threat QB. After all, 2025 saw him log 15 rushing attempts for 160 yards, 10.7 averaged per carry.

Cole Ballard - Battling Marshall, Jenkins for QB1
Ballard is battling Isaiah Marshall and Chase Jenkins for the QB1 gig, per 247Sports.
Impact
Ballard has spent the past three seasons as a backup at Kansas. Last fall, he tossed for 108 yards on 10-of-22 passing while rushing for 92 yards on 15 carries. He's gotten involved, albeit minimally, in all three seasons at Kansas. His competition features a transfer from Rice in Jenkins and a home-grown gunslinger in Marshall. Ballard and Marshall appear to be the top two options at the moment, however.

Yasin Willis - Practicing this spring
Willis (concussion) is practicing with the Jayhawks this spring, per KUSports.com.
Impact
Willis, the Syracuse transfer who amassed 558 rushing yards and four touchdowns last year, is healthy after he missed the final two games of the season for the Orange. That's big-time for Kansas, as he's expected to be the No. 2 halfback behind Kansas State transfer Dylan Edwards.

Jaden Nickens - Practicing this spring
Nickens (undisclosed) is practicing with Kansas this spring, per KUSports.com.
Impact
Nickens didn't play in his freshman season with Kansas, but the 6-foot-3 wideout appears to be over his ailment and in the process of making a name for himself in spring ball.

Carson Bruhn - Practicing in spring ball
Bruhn (foot) is partaking in Kansas' spring practice period, per KUSports.com.
Impact
Bruhn missed the final four games of the 2025 season last year in his redshirt freshman campaign. The tight end, who caught five passes for 55 yards before his foot injury, is now fully healthy and will look to make a bigger impact in his third season with the Jayhawks.

Jalen Dupree - Sitting out spring after surgery
Dupree isn't partaking in Kansas' spring practice after undergoing surgery this offseason, per Matt Tait of the Perpetual Sports Network.
Impact
Dupree underwent an undisclosed surgery this offseason after his second season at Colorado State. The tailback had a productive year with the Rams in 2025, rushing for 508 yards and two scores while catching 12 passes for 83 yards. He elected to take his talents to Kansas, but is now slightly behind in acclimating to the Jayhawks offense as he's set to miss the entirety of spring ball.

Chase Jenkins - Committed to transfer to Kansas
Jenkins has committed to transfer to Kansas, Dan Morrison of On3.com reports.
Impact
Jenkins will transfer colleges from Rice to Kansas. During the quarterback's 2025 season, he logged 119 completed passes on a 67.2 completion percentage, 1,025 passing yards and nine touchdowns. The dual-threat QB also recorded five rushing TDs. Considering that Kansas' team needs a new QB1 in place of Jalon Daniels (senior), Jenkins has at least an adequate chance to remain starting quarterback but for the more well-known Jayhawks.

Dylan Edwards - Commits to Kansas
Edwards has committed to Kansas, Michael Swain of 247Sports.com reports.
Impact
Switching from Kansas State to Kansas is a bold move for Edwards, but it looks like the running back will test his luck in what will be his third Power Conference after both KSU and Colorado, Pac-12 when he was enrolled there but coincidentally also Big 12 now. In 2024, Edwards logged 546 rushing yards, 7.4 yards per carry and five touchdowns. Despite redshirting 2025, he still recorded 205 rushing yards, 6.0 yards per carry and two TDs. Even with a limited output, Edwards looks to be locked for a big role in the Kansas backfield.

Yasin Willis - Signs with Kansas
Willis has signed with Kansas, Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports reports.

During the Syracuse team's 2025 season, he logged 558 rushing yards and four touchdowns across fewer than 10 games. For 2025, Willis did not play Syracuse's last two, so his next objective is to recover.
