Impact Emery has been working back the last few months from offseason shoulder surgery. He did participate in fall practice, but keeping him out of the scrimmage might have just been as a precaution. His status for the opener against UCLA should become more clear soon.

Impact Emery underwent offseason shoulder surgery and returned to contact drills at the end of March. He appeared to be a full participant in Friday's practice, and coach Ed Orgeron said afterward that he's optimistic that Emery and Tyrion Davis-Price will take on leading roles for LSU in 2021.

Progressing to contact drills Emery (shoulder) is set to take some contact in Thursday's practice, Brooks Kubena of The New Orleans Advocate reports.

Impact Emery has been limited to non-contact work thus far in spring as he works his way back from shoulder surgery. He is progressing, however, and will be cleared to go through "thud practice" on Thursday, which is just shy of being a full-contact practice.

Impact LSU is short on running back depth this spring with Emery and Tyrion Davis-Price (undisclosed) both banged up. Emery has been participating in a non-contact jersey, however, so he is at least able to go through some football activity. It's unclear if Emery will be 100 percent by the end of spring practice but there's no word that his rehab will stretch into fall camp, either.
