JC French IV News, Rumors, Updates - Cincinnati Bearcats

Quiet in Saturday's win French completed 8 of 13 passes for 165 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 31-26 win against Kansas State. He also had eight rushes for 21 yards.

Impact French only attempted 13 passes in Saturday's win, the second time through four games he's attempted 14 or fewer. He still threw for 165 yards and a touchdown despite that low volume, but it wasn't enough to give him a productive fantasy outing. While his rushing gives him a decent floor, French's inconsistent passing opportunities makes him a difficult player to project.

Leads comeback versus RedHawks French was 31-for-43 passing for 309 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 35-31 win over Miami (OH). He also had 16 rushes for 39 yards with one touchdown.

Impact The Bearcats found themselves down 28-7 coming out of halftime, but French provided a spark for the offense. He tossed two touchdowns and ran in another to cut the deficit to 31-28 in the fourth quarter, and then Cole Tabb's long rushing touchdown completed the comeback win. French set season highs across the board from a passing standpoint while still being productive with his legs. The fact that a 21-point comeback was needed is a bit concerning for French and the Bearcats though, and the team will need to collect themselves quickly ahead of Saturday's conference opener versus Kansas State.

After only throwing for 77 yards in the season opener, his 245 yards on Saturday was a very welcome sight. He also looked good on the ground again too, rushing for over 50 yards in his second straight outing. He faces another favorable matchup Saturday versus Miami (OH).

Three rushing TDs in opener French completed 10 of 14 passes for 77 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 34-15 win versus Boston College. He also had 10 rushes for 52 yards with three touchdowns.

Impact French made his first start after transferring in from Georgia Southern and made quite the impression. While he only threw for 77 yards, he scored three rushing touchdowns, all of which came within five yards. That rushing ability gives French high upside in fantasy, especially if he can maintain good passing numbers as he did with Georgia Southern. He faces a favorable matchup next versus Western Carolina.

Rises to top during spring French separated him from the pack during Cincinnati's spring camp, Steve Helwick of SB Nation reports.

Impact Upon committing to Cincinnati early-January, French was projected as the team's primary quarterback. Fast-forward half a year, the Bearcats do not have much proven QBs to combat his excellent spring. It appears that French will be the Bearcats' updated QB1, but their fall camp will provide a better indicator of how they will operate under center.

Impact French is expected to compete for the QB1 role in Cincinnati, although it wouldn't be surprising if there's no competition at all.
