GAME LOG
No longer with UVA
Griese is no longer listed on Virginia's roster ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Impact
Griese, who was limited by a foot injury during spring practices, is no longer a member of the Cavaliers' team. It is possible that the 6-foot senior chose to step away from football due to medical reasons.

Donning non-contact jersey
Griese (foot) is wearing a non-contact jersey to open Virginia's spring practice period, per the team's official X account.
Impact
Griese missed the Cavaliers' final eight games of the season with a foot injury, and appears to still be banged up. It's a good sign he's partaking in practice, but the tailback still has some recovering to do before he's able to be a full participant. Griese ran for 55 yards on 13 carries last year, while catching a 57-yard touchdown.

Impact
According to Jacquie Franciulli of 247Sports, Griese suffered an injury during the Cavaliers' game at Coastal Carolina on Sept. 21. Big reception in Week 1
Griese tallied five carries for 12 yards and reeled in their only target for 57 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 34-13 win against Richmond.
Impact
Griese's day wouldn't've been all that notable had he not reeled in a 57-yard catch. The tailback should be a rotational piece for Virginia moving forward, as he was outpaced in touches by both Kobe Pace and Xavier Brown.

Running hard during team practice
Griese (undisclosed) reportedly ran hard during Virginia's team practice Monday, Jacquie Franciulli of 247Sports.com reports.
Impact
Griese running hard indicates he has recovered from the undisclosed injury that prevented his spring participation. The running back logged 11 carries for 34 yards and one touchdown during Virginia's 2024 season. There are expected to be opportunities for improvement, especially now that Mike Hollins is out of collegiate eligibility.
