Impact DeShields and Montes were locked into a quarterback competition this fall but DeShields came up short. He is set to back up Montes to start the season, and he could get a chance if Montes does not deliver. Last season's starter Devin Kargman (hip) could also find his way into the conversation if he gets healthy.
