Impact Fortner will start at wideout and should have a sizable workload as one of the go-to options for quarterback Cale Hellums, who will get the nod under center over a banged-up Dewayne Coleman. Fortner didn't play in the Week 1 loss to Tarleton State.

Impact Hellums will get the nod under center since Army's starting signal-caller, Dewayne Coleman, got banged up twice last week versus Tarleton State. Coleman could still make an appearance if needed, but Hellums will get the nod and start in this one.

Impact Coleman was seen dressed and warming up, and indeed, the star quarterback will be available for the Black Knights. However, he won't get the start -- that honor will go to his backup Cael Hellums. This is a big loss for Army, but Coleman's injury doesn't seem all that serious if he's indeed available in an emergency capacity.

Impact Coleman left Army's upset loss to Tarleton State with an injury and didn't return. However, he's expected to be able to suit up Saturday night against Kansas State. "He obviously had to come out of the game, and we're treating it," Black Knights head coach Jeff Monken said. "I anticipate that's he's going to be able to play. He's a tough guy, so I imagine he'll be ready to go for the game." Coleman passed for 129 yards and two interceptions and ran for 100 yards and a score on 24 carries.

What the previous backup lacks in much game experience, he makes up for with promise. Coleman's 2024 season includes 11 completions for 121 yards and one touchdown without any interceptions. He also established some competence in the run game, with 38 carries for 136 yards and a rushing TD.
