Impact Hardy has still not practiced this season after suffering a gunshot wound in May. Head coach Eli Drinkwitz said he needs Hardy to have a multi-week ramp up once he does return to practice, so Hardy's return to the field is still weeks away. It's another disappointing update for Hardy after his massive 1,649 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns last season for the Tigers.

Impact There was initial hope that the star tailback could return by mid-October, that seems up in the air at this point as Hardy still looks weeks away from a return. What's more, head coach Eli Drinkwitz has said he needs to see Hardy at full speed in practice at least two weeks before deploying him in game action. For now, Jamal Roberts should continue to lead the way in Missouri's backfield.

Impact Hardy continues to recover from an offseason gunshot wound, and the tailback will miss his second straight game to open the 2026 season. Though he returned to practice Tuesday, Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz said he needs to see Hardy at full speed in practice at least two weeks before he sees game action. Based on that timeframe, he'll be out until at least Sept. 26 against Mississippi State.
