GAME LOG

In uniform Wednesday Freemantle (foot) was seen in uniform ahead of Wednesday's game against Central Michigan, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact Freemantle is expected to see the floor in some capacity during Wednesday's game. He was just recently medically cleared for all basketball related activities due to an offseason foot surgery. Freemantle will not be in the starting lineup Wednesday.

Could debut Wednesday Freemantle (foot) could take the floor for a limited season debut Wednesday versus Central Michigan, Adam Baum of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact Freemantle was given full medical clearance late last week and appears finally ready to see some live game action. Considering the opponent, his injury location and his extended absence, Freemantle figures to be pretty limited in his first showing of the 2021-22 campaign. That should gradually expand as he continues to build on his conditioning, assuming he avoids setbacks along the way.

Gains full clearance Freemantle (foot) has been medically cleared to return to all basketball activities, Adam Baum of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact Freemantle surprised many by suiting up and participating in warmups Friday, though last year's starting center ultimately didn't get into the game. It sounds like it may be a matter of conditioning, but coach Travis Steele did say Freemantle will be on the court for Xavier's next practice. The Musketeers do have a bit of a break before their next game, scheduled for Dec. 1 against Central Michigan, but it's probably too early to tell what Freemantle's availability might look like for that contest.
NOVEMBER 27, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Warming up Friday Freemantle (foot) warmed up prior to Friday's game against Virginia Tech, Adam Baum of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact Freemantle has been out all season while working his way back from foot surgery. Previous reports from early November indicated that he was targeting a return at the start of December. Whether or not he'll actually get into Friday's game and what role he'd play if he does remain to be seen, but it's undoubtedly a good sign that he's at least able to warm up.
NOVEMBER 26, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Does some light work in practice Freemantle (foot) did some light work in practice on Monday, Adam Baum of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact Freemantle is still reportedly on track to return to action at the beginning of December as he recovers from foot surgery. The team will likely want to see a few full speed practices out of the 6-9 center before they feel comfortable throwing him out there in game action.
NOVEMBER 23, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Still on track Freemantle (foot) remains on track for a return at the beginning of December, per head coach Travis Steele, who appeared on The Field of 68 on Thursday.
Impact Freemantle still hasn't taken the court this season as he rehabs from surgery on his left foot, but he's making solid progress and is now only a few weeks away from his 2021 debut, assuming he makes it to December without suffering any setbacks. "He's really progressing well," stated Steele. "He's out of the boot, he's able to do some form shooting, some ball-handling, some passing. He adds a different dimension to our team."
NOVEMBER 18, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Targeting Dec. 1 as return date Head coach Travis Steele stated on his radio show Monday that Dec. 1 is the target for Freemantle's (foot) return, Xavier 247 reports.
Impact Freemantle continues to recover from left foot surgery, a procedure he underwent in October. A firm return date for the center should become more clear later in the month.
NOVEMBER 8, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Initial timeline revealed Coach Travis Steele revealed Monday that Freemantle underwent surgery just before media day, and the initial timeline for his return was six weeks, Adam Baum of The Cincinnati Enqu...
Impact Coach Steele's update doesn't provide much new information, though it wasn't previously known that Freemantle went under the knife. With media day taking place in mid-October, a six-month timeline would mean the center could return as soon as the end of November, though Steele also brought up the unpredictability of foot injuries. The team should have a better idea as to when Freemantle will return to game action as he starts to clear hurdles in his rehab.

Report: Xavier basketball's Zach Freemantle out indefinitely with foot injury It appears the depth of Xavier University's men's basketball team will be tested early this season.
OCTOBER 29, 2021 • CINCINNATI.COM
Could play in December Freemantle (foot) has been ruled out indefinitely, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact Freemantle has been wearing a walking boot on his left foot while recovering from the injury, and he's not expected to take the court for Xavier until sometime in December. The junior big man averaged 16.1 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 31.4 minutes for the Musketeers last season, so it's a considerable absence to start the 2021-22 campaign.
OCTOBER 29, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Remains in boot Freemantle (foot) didn't suit up at Xavier's "Musketeer Madness" scrimmage Friday, Adam Baum of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact According to Markus Walters of WKTY-TV, Freemantle continues to sport crutches and a walking boot. Few details of the injury have been reported other than the fact that Freemantle is "week-to-week," and his next chance to take the court will be an exhibition matchup against Ferris State on Nov. 5. Given the Musketeers won't face any major challenges in the schedule until Nov. 18 against Ohio State, it wouldn't be too surprising to see a conservative approach taken here, though any estimates of a return date are merely speculative at this point. Still, any absence from last year's leading scorer (16.1 ppg) will undoubtedly sting, especially with fellow frontcourt player Jack Nunge (knee) sidelined as well.

Sports walking boot at media day Freemantle was spotted in a walking boot at Tuesday's Big East media day, Adam Zagoria of the New York Times reports.
Impact According to coach Travis Steele, Freemantle should be considered "week-to-week," as the team doesn't wish to rush him back (via Adam Baum of the Cincinnati Enquirer). Steele went on to say, "Anytime with any injuries to your foot, especially because it's not too serious right now, we just want to be patient, make sure we're dealing with it right." Freemantle picked up first-team all-Big East preseason honors during Tuesday's media day, coming off a season in which he posted 16.1 points and 8.9 rebounds to earn co-most improved player in the league. He and Jack Nunge are expected to take on a good chunk of the frontcourt minutes this season, but with Nunge battling back from a knee injury of his own, it appears Dieonte Miles will get early looks at the five for the Musketeers. Based on these circumstances, it seems Freemantle won't be ready for Friday's team scrimmage, so the next chance we'll have to get a look will be an exhibition matchup Nov. 5 against Ferris State.

Provides double-double in loss Freemantle recorded 12 points (4-15 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 12 rebounds, one assist and one block during 31 minutes in the 72-66 loss to Georgetown on Tuesday.
Impact Freemantle continued his double-double streak, extending it to a six-game run. The center is one of the only productive players in the starting rotation as of recent and needs to continue this if Xavier wants to see any success in the tournament. Freemantle provides excellent value on both the floor and at the boards. The only issue, he is still very inconsistent from the floor and needs to find his rhythm soon. Otherwise he is a great streaming option.
