Hunter Maldonado - Good to go after tweaking ankle Coach Jeff Linder said Friday that Maldonado will be good to go Saturday against San Jose State after tweaking his ankle earlier this week, Josh Criswell of WyoSports reports.

Impact It's unclear when the senior suffered the ankle issue, but it hasn't impacted his play. Over his last three games, Maldonado has averaged 20.0 points, 6.0 assists and 4.7 rebounds in 39.7 minutes while shooting 52.5 percent from the field. Wyoming has had to deal with several injuries to key rotational players of late, but they're starting to get healthy as the NCAA Tournament draws closer, listing only Kenny Foster (undisclosed) on the injury report.

Impact This was yet another outstanding performance from a player who's now looking like the MWC Player of the Year frontrunner. It was made all the more impressive by the fact Ike was limited due to foul trouble a bit in the first half. Ike now has double-doubles in two of his last three games, and is averaging 21.3 points and 10.1 rebounds over his last seven contests.

Impact Maldonado and the Cowboys have had to deal with injuries to several key rotation players of late, so it's no surprise to see the fifth-year point guard close to the top-10 in the nation with a career-high 37.3 mpg. He logged 40-plus minutes Sunday for the fourth time in his last five games and seventh time overall this season. Maldonado is now third in the Mountain West in scoring at 19.3 ppg, plus he leads the conference in assists at 6.4 apg. He and Graham Ike (20.0 ppg) combine for one of the most formidable high-low combos in the country, and the duo seems perfectly capable of willing the Cowboys to a win or two when the NCAA Tournament rolls around.
