Impact Lorient was seeking an extra year of eligibility and apparently got his wish granted. The 6-foot-9 senior averaged 11.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game in the 2025-26 campaign.

Brenen Lorient - Seeking extra year of eligibility Lorient (not injury related) has filed a lawsuit seeking immediate eligibility for the 2026-27 season, according to Keenan Cummings of On3.com.

Impact Lorient is one of two West Virginia players seeking immediate eligibility for the 2026-27 season through a waiver, with Javan Buchanan being the other. Lorient figures to be a starter for VWU if he's granted eligibility to play. He averaged 11.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.3 blocks per game in 2025-26.

Javan Buchanan - Seeking immediate eligibility Buchanan (not injury related) has filed a lawsuit seeking immediate eligibility for the 2026-27 season, according to Keenan Cummings of On3.com.

Impact Buchanan had his eligibility waiver denied by the NCAA on July 30, but after the ruling allowing seniors from the class of 2022 an extra year of eligibility was approved, Buchanan will rely on it to play a final season in college hoops in 2026-27. Buchanan, a 6-foot-7, 230-pound forward, transferred to West Virginia from Boise State during the offseason. He averaged 12.6 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in the 2025-26 campaign with the Broncos.

Javan Buchanan - Waiver denied by NCAA Buchanan's eligibility waiver has been denied by the NCAA, Keenan Cummings of On3.com reports.

Impact Buchanan transferred to West Virginia this offseason, but there's now a chance he will not be able to suit up for the Mountaineers. Buchanan has completed four years at the collegiate level -- his first two seasons with Indiana Wesleyan and the last two with Boise State. Impact Due to an injured ankle, Sylla was limited to less than 25 minutes of Georgia Tech's conference action last winter. Nonetheless, West Virginia recruited him considering his pre-non-con excellence, which features 11.2 points and 8.4 rebounds (6.2 defensive) per game.
