Impact Tanner's shot wasn't falling, but he found other ways to contribute. This was the closest that the 6-0 sophomore has come to a triple-double and he nearly doubled his previous high in rebounds (set on Wednesday against SMU with five). The Commodores have three more non-conference games and could well head into SEC play undefeated. Road tests at Memphis and Wake Forest await.

Impact Tanner is the midst of a nice shooting streak. In his last three games, he has converted 65.6 percent (21-of-32) from the field and has averaged 18.3 points over that span. He has scored in double digits in every game and is knocking down half of his 3-point attempts. The breakout sophomore is averaging 16.2 points and 4.3 assists.

Impact Tanner's playing time has been somewhat curtailed by foul trouble and the presence of Frankie Collins on the Commodore bench. He has accrued four fouls in each of the games in Battle 4 Atlantic and scored just 11 points in the win over Western Kentucky on Wednesday. Tanner's play has helped Vanderbilt to its first 7-0 start since 2007-08 when the Commodores won their first 16 games. The team will put the streak on the line on Friday against the winner of the Virginia Tech and St. Mary's.
